Some background:

-Graduated from university in 2016, began work at a large company making 3x the required minimum amount

-Left job in early 2018, was in the Peace Corps and living abroad making less than the required minimum amount

-Came back to the US and began a new job August 2020 at another large company making 3x the required minimum amount and have been at the same job since.

Could the embassy (Bogota) require a joint sponsor given from early 2018-mid 2020 I made below the minimum required amount? My 2020 taxes are also below the required amount since I only worked the last quarter.

Thanks!

Yes, they can. They'd issue an RFE for it.

Is it likely though? I have been at this job for over a year now. I plan on providing pay stubs as well for this year. Also I have lived with my parents and worked from home the entire time so my costs have been almost 0 and I’ve been able to save most of my salary.

If you're under the required income they will very likely request a joint sponsor.

I am not below the required income, I have been earning 3x that amount for more than a year now. My question is regarding my previous tax returns which are less than that.

Depends on the evidence you provide.

If the evidence is the 2020 tax returns they will very likely require a joint sponsor. If it is just documents from your employer stating your current salary and position they probably won't ask for a joint sponsor.

Current income is key.  I suggest you to include a letter from your employer detailing your salary or several months of recent pay stubs.

Year 2020 tax return is required only if you are self employed, otherwise it is optional.

Also, can you provide some information about your case, or fill in your profile and timeline?

If you have just recently submitted your petition, then it may be that you'll have 2021 tax returns done by the time the I-134 is required.

I asked HR to get me the letter. I also have a years worth of pay stubs, and my offer letter from last year.

our case is at the embassy in Bogota and we are waiting for them to open the December calendar so we can schedule our interview.
