A Year After NOA 2

We are 2 months away from our date of our NOA 2 notification which means we are just waiting for the interview appointment. Our case status has been stuck on "Case Approved" on January 14th of this year. We have not received anything else since then and we were told not to wait a year if we had not heard anything back. Worse of all, we have seen many other applicants that received that notice much later and have already received their interview appointment. These applicants are from the same country as well. Not sure what to do at this point.

I do have my new case number, and I just checked it on that website as well and it says "At NVC".

Have you tried to schedule your interview appointment?  K-1s don't normally "receive their interview appointments".

This is the first time i've heard of this. Everyone seems to be receiving their appointments. Did I miss something? How do I schedule an appointment. You can't really contact the NVC if you are still waiting on a response from the NVC.

If you already have a case number provided by NVC, you can proceed to schedule the appointment for interview at the embassy/consulate.

Well that's really odd. I don't mean to sound dumb but I just don't think I fully understand. I just got off the phone with the NVC and they checked my case. They said everything is fine with the case and they are just waiting for the embassy in Guatemala to request more applications from them. Once they send out my application the NVC will notify me, and once the embassy in Guatemala is ready to interview us, they will notify me as well. I asked to make sure if there is anything I needed to do right now and he said no, just need to wait.

Ok. So they already assigned you a case number but they still need to send the documents to the embassy.

"Upon receipt of the case file, the embassy will send an instruction packet to the beneficiary via email.

The beneficiary will follow these instructions to pay the application fee and schedule online their appointment for an interview at the embassy in Guatemala."

I mean you can contact the embassy and ask them what the hick-up is. Say something along the line that you're worried since it's almost been a year bla bla to get their attention. They might ignore you or you'll get a generic answer but it won't hurt.

Not that it will make you feel better, but it took almost a year and a half from when NVC received my application to when the embassy received it. I'm on track to being just a couple months shy of two years from submission to (hopefully) receiving visa.
