Daughter-in-law Applied for police report. They said it takes 30 days. It is now one week past the 30 days and no police report. She emailed the State services portal where she ordered the police report and they said it was not their responsibility. They gave her three other numbers to call. She called one they said it wasn’t their responsibility the other two numbers don’t answer. Has anyone else had difficulty getting their police report from Russia and do you know who she could go to for help to get this police report she needs?

You should have this post moved to the Russia sub-forum to see if there are any other avenues to obtain the police report/ check to see how long reports are taking these days due to covid/ get better information.

I needed to get a police report from a country I lived in before and had to use an agent to expedite it as obtaining the report from abroad is extremely

difficult.

Can she go in person and talk to someone about it? Many other members here have successfully completely the process recently, which means they probably got a police report somehow. Tagging them @Wouter @Giodude @zolotinka

@Strawberrymermaid is in the process as well, not sure if she's arrived at the police certificate part yet.

Thank Millefleur.. yes this morning she went to the actual building and was able to get it!!

That's great! Glad it worked out.

Yes, that is also my wife's experience: if one person says they can't help you then just move on and try another, even at the same police station, until you find someone who is willing to do it and then it usually only takes a few days.

Wouter, Thank you! We were so relieved when she was able to get it this morning!  I noticed your wife went to Warsaw,Poland for her interview.  Did she have a schengen visa already or did she have to get one to go there? Also did they require you to be at the interview?   NVC has scheduled My daughter-in-law to the US embassy in Tbilisi. My son had  to return to the states because of his job so he may not be able to go when they do schedule the interview. Another question. How long were you and your wife separated? Did you travel back and forth to Russian while waiting for her visa?

Hi, I can imagine you would be relieved to get the police report. Every step of this process seems to come with its own problems.

Yes, we managed to get my wife's case transferred to Warsaw so that's where she did the interview last week. She still had a valid 2 year multi-entry Schengen visa from Switzerland so that made it a lot easier to get to Poland.

I also flew to Warsaw to support my wife through the whole ordeal but I was not allowed to be at the interview and it was definitely not required to be there. She went into the embassy alone while I waited outside until she finally came out with a big smile on her face 😀. Too bad your son can't go to Tbilisi with his wife but I am sure she will be fine.

My wife and I got married in February 2020 and filed the I-130 the same month but then the Covid pandemic hit and we weren't able to see each other for six months which was hard and much longer than we planned. I was not able to travel to Russia because it was almost impossible to get into Russia at that time and to this day I have actually never been to Russia. When it was finally possible to travel again in August of 2020 we decided we never wanted to be apart that long again so we did a trip to a vacation destination in another country about every three months (Turkey/Greece-Aug 2020, Dubai-Oct 2020, Maldives-Feb 2021, Switzerland-May 2021, and then Poland-Sept/Oct 2021) which was nice but in the end you don't want to live a vacation life but you want to have a normal life together, so we are really glad we can start our (hopefully) normal life soon.

Good luck to your daughter-in-law and son and please don't hesitate to ask me any questions, I am happy to help.

  • 2 weeks later...

So I deiced to check the CEAC website and now they want a police report. What the heck when have been DQ since May 2020 I checked the CEAC website about 2 months ago and nothing about this. Never got email or letter about it. Even on the CEAC web portal there is no message of it.

At the time we did all this he was not even 16 yet and now he is 17. I wounder if that means Moscow might interview him.
