Ok I will bite. What kind of emissions do they produce ?

Don't you know someone who sells cars?  Ever smell a new car?  Guess where all that plastic comes from?  Or the energy to put the car together?  Or the components that make up the batteries?  And after production, there is the coal and petroleum required to produce the volts.

California took another step toward its goal of ridding the state of all gas-powered engines thanks to a new bill signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom on Saturday.

The new law will ban the sale of all off-road, gas-powered engines, including generators, lawn equipment, pressure washers, chainsaws, weed trimmers, and even golf carts. Under the new law, these

machines must be zero-emissions, meaning they will have to be either battery-powered or plug-in, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The new law is expected to affect nearly 50,000 small businesses. California's budget includes $30 million to help professional landscapers and gardeners quit using gas-powered equipment, but even

then, the budget is still not capable of bearing the full financial burden.

The National Association of Landscape Professionals also noted how zero-emission commercial equipment is both more expensive and less efficient than gas-powered equipment. A gas-powered

riding lawn mower costs between $7,000-$11,000 while the zero-emissions version costs more than twice that amount, according to the outlet.

i sure hope there isn't a natural disaster where one would need a gas powered generator............

That's why I said zero emissions from the vehicle not so much for the power plant producing the electricity in my comment you responded to but obviously didn't read.

Not surprising considering it's now illegal in Commiefornia to work on your own car.

It bans sales not use and not until 2024.

I assume people will stock up and there will be a lot of sales opportunities in adjacent States.

Completely incorrect -- several counties have this, but not all. And it's not just California. Sacramento County is the county that got a lot of coverage about this a couple years ago. Also, minor repairs -- things you can get done in under 24 hours like oil changes, changing tires, spark plugs, etc. -- are still fine to do at home there.

I come from a place that is steeped in car culture. Do you really think this actually is true? Please. Not in LA County -- it is just fine to work on your own car here. Whether you're part of an HOA that has restrictions is another matter. It really isn't very hard to check this stuff!

Maybe VJ needs  fact checking ? Still even at a county level it's absurd.

Well, it's being enforced as a code violation, and those are done at county level. I don't disagree that it's dumb. But I do think it's important to explain that it isn't all of California.
