Actually just focus on this.  Your case was created right before a shipping day so that means it will ship either 23rd/24th of November or in a couple weeks (the 7th/8th of December).  NVC only ships every other week and both of our embassy cases were created the week of shipping, so they are both going to ship to their respective countries either next week or the 2nd week in december.  Hang in there! :)

Oh i thought the embassy in my country had to request NVC to ship my packages! Seemed like everyone in other forum was complaining how backlogged their embassies are. Fingers crossed ours will be shipped next week🤞🏻 And thank you again for your help! Made me feel so much better

You are correct in the embassy requests it.  The same goes for mine.  But i check the history and see.  If it looks like people around me or within a month of receiving their NVC case # are shipping, then that means the embassy is roughly a month behind grabbing cases.  If @alexmamone's setup was less than 1 month for the embassy to request and receive the petition packet, then I would say since yours is assigned, it will be requested sooner than later.  Hang in there :).
My embassy has been taking anywhere from a couple weeks to a month for petitions to be requested.  And the hack I used with DHL shows they are shipping one day during shipping week to Kyiv.  And the last shipment had 2 waybills.  But I would recommend just checking once on Friday every other week.  So check the 26th and if you see your case is in transit, then you know it is on the way and you should receive word from Tokyo embassy the following week sometime.  If it does not show in transit, then you can prepare yourself for the week of the 7th of December for shipping.  I really honestly think that the embassy already had a full load last week and that is why yours did not ship

Start filling up the Ds-160 and gathering documents :)) Once it gets shipped to Japan itll take about a week to get your packet! There are very few Dec and Jan interview slots last time I checked so yoh might want to schedule one soon as you can. Here’s hoping yours gets shipped next week! 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Did you just receive it?  it might take a day to update (overnight cycle as I tell my peers at work).  A huge congratulations and just make sure you are using that # to search and not your WAC accidentally.  But yeah it is probably taking a bit.  Kind of like tracking from FEDEX/UPS where you receive the tracking number at 2pm but it isnt a valid tracking number until 8pm in the system or 6am the next morning.  Everything is still processing, you just cannot see the update at this moment :)

If you look at my above post on page 6, check to see when it was actually issued by the 3 numbers after your (3 letter code)(2021)(check these next 3 digit number and subtract 500.)  Then if it ends up being today, that is why for sure. But again, you have it!  that is the most exciting

K visas are nonimmigrant visas that assist spouses or future spouses of American citizens in entering the United States. As with all nonimmigrant visa applicants, a DS-160 must be filled out in order for a consular section to process the case.

so i have to filled out the DS-160 now??

Yeah to answer your first question, consistently it looks like anywhere from a few weeks to 1 month.  I would examine your Tokyo case # and decode it.  The first 3 letters are the name of the city the embassy is in, the next 4 numbers are the year the NVC created the case, the 3 numbers following are the julian month/day the case was created - 500 and the final 3 numbers are what actual number it was assigned that day, EX mine was in KEV2021813XXX.  I blocked out the last 3 because those are ones you cannot figure out from my timeline.  My case was created in year 2021, day 813-500 = 313 julian month/day (I googled the 2021 julian calendar and found out the exact day) and then the 3 X's are my assembly line number.  So my case was created on 09 NOV 2021.  That might shed more light on when it is sent if it is already past the 1 month of waiting.
Here is the julian calendar:image.png.2dcffc0efd132ac3e5e5a1532239ad9f.png

Ok I just check this so according to this they recieved on Noviembre 09, 2021 which means that maybe we got some news the last days of November or first week of december! Well I just hope it doesnt take too long because holidays are coming that make me nervous.

I would like to know if there is a way to know which cases are taking for interview right now like in what month are working right now the embassy in my contry?

Yeah trust me.  Anna and I are hoping the same.  She asked me if I knew any timeline and I said no.  We have to wait until we see our case show in transit.  Yeah with yours receiving the case assignment on the 9th, that was the same day as mine so I would check your case status on the ceac website on Thursday/Friday (25th NOV, 26th NOV) and see if it shows in transit.  If nothing by Friday night, then I would assume your case was not requested yet.  NVC ships to the embassy/consulate every 2 weeks.  So the next shipment after the 23rd/24th of November is 7th/8th of December.  You can continue to check your case status after next weekend (the week of the 29th) but I would only check it maybe once or twice.  Usually if you dont see in transit within a couple days after the last day of shipping for the week, then it is waiting in line for the next shipping week.  This is why I recommend Thursday/Friday because Thursday is 2 days after the Tuesday shipment and Friday is 2 days after the Wednesday shipment.  That almost guarantees a status update if it ships.
And to answer your second question, no there is no way to tell what cases the embassy/consulate is requesting.  That would be an awesome setup if so because then I could assure Anna of where we were in line for our embassy to receive. (I use our and we because we are a team :))  Stay positive because you have a case # and the embassy/consulate will request your case :).  Everything is possible and everything will work out for the better in the end.

Thanks for all the help! After a few hours calling NVC it updated and says "At NVC" now.

So, I asked NVC and they said, they dont send the case until the embassy requests for them. Then I called the embassy and they said, they don't have the case and we should call NVC and ask them to send it.

I don't understand why there are throwing it back at each other. The embassy I am going through does not get a lot of immigrant traffic, so I am wondering if they don't know the process.

Congratulations on this where the status now shows at NVC.

I keep this in mind because this is how the NVC works.  NVC holds on to your petition until it is requested by the embassy, this is correct.  One thing you have to keep in mind is when an embassy requests a petition, the NVC only sends by post (mail) every other week.  This week (Tuesday 23 November and Wednesday 24 November) are the shipping days for any petition that was requested by the respective embassy.
My case number was created on 9 November, which the shipping dates were Tuesday 9 November and Wednesday 10 November but my embassy did not request my petition in time to ship out on Wednesday 10 November.
For you, if your embassy does not request yours Tuesday or Wednesday, expect it to probably ship on Tuesday 7 December or Wednesday 8 December.  This is assuming your embassy is accepting petitions at this time and they are not backlogged (which is what i assumed by what you said above).  Just stay positive because you do have your case number so that means you are only waiting for the embassy to "pick your number" and give it to the NVC to arrange to be shipped the next time NVC ships.

What I posted previously was, check your status either Thursday 25 November or Friday 26 November.  I would check in the evening to be sure you've given the NVC time to update their system.  Thursday will probably reflect any shipments on Tuesday and Friday will reflect Wednesday.  If you see a status change to in transit, then you know your petition should arrive to your respective embassy next week.  You can also post in here if you get an in transit and i can work the DHL hack to give you a better ETA.
I am hopeful that our petition will ship either Tuesday or Wednesday because there were two tracking numbers on 1 waybill on Wednesday 10 November with a destination to Ukraine.  This way I have something else to celebrate and announce to Anna this week :).  Stay positive!

I’m def very thankful I’m at the NVC stage. Thanks for all the info, it’s def helpful and paints a good picture of the process.

Im just worried that the embassy might just let it hang. There is one more K1 petition for Oman and they have been sitting at the NVC stage for 3 weeks now. I don’t think the embassy is backlogged but who knows.

thanks though I really appreciate it
