Mom's Re-entry Visa

Hi there, 

 

My mom went home to the Philippines before Covid start with an approved Form I-131 (re-entry permit). We supposed to pick it up in Manila Embassy but then Covid hits and there were travel ban/restrictions.

 

We have been trying to get the document from the US Embassy of Manila since the beginning of this year and we are not going anywhere. We can't schedule an appointment, they can't answer on how we can get the visa permit. 

 

Any advise? I also called USCIS and they told me that once they sent the visa that its on the mercy of the embassy wherever it got sent. My mom doesn't have an intention to abandon her legal residency and I'm afraid that we can't get her re-entry permit on time. 

 

Anyone has experience with this? With covid circumstances things get complicated. Thank you so much!

Where exactly is your mother in the Philippines?

 

What methods have you used to contact the US Embassy in Manila? Email, phone, etc.? Have you tried escalating to your congressperson or senator?

She in Samar right now. I've tried reaching the US embassy by email and phone. We have been trying to get an appointment but with no success. 

 

No, I haven't escalated this to a congressman or senator. Can this help? 

 

When I called USCIS they advise me to call Department of State and I did. DOS point me back to USCIS. OMG 😅

If you really cannot get through to the US Embassy Manila, then yes, it's time to contact your representatives.
