Has any one gotten a visa interview at the Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam Consulate since July 2021? Can not understand why after the lockdown they are still not granting interviews?

I originally had an interview scheduled for 23rd July which got cancelled due to Dir-16. I requested an expedited interview which was accepted and I had my interview (CR-1) on 22 of September. I hope that helps

Congratulations - thanks for the update?

Maybe a positive sign here, I went by the U.S consulate in HCMC one morning two weeks ago for an unrelated matter, and I saw a line outside of the building from across the street. I have no idea what they were lining up for or whether they were interviewing for a tourist or immigrant visa, but it seemed to be a sign that things are starting to move along.

I was able to get one for my wife. Her 221g appointment is tonight due to the time difference. I was able to schedule last Thursday at 8am PST.

It's about impossible to setup an interview date at the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City........at least for a K1 visa anyway. My fiance' has been trying for months and nothing. It's completely random, and there is no way to figure it out. I believe that available dates are posted by a computer and not a real person because we have heard about others finding dates at midnight or even 3am.......and you know as well as me that there is not an American working at that time.

I'm at the end of my ropes with this system........it's no wonder we have so much illegal immigration, who in their right mind wants to go through the normal process.

Americans can marry as many other Americans as they want........have as many babies as they want.......divorce as many times as they want and burden the tax payers with taking care of children again and again, but I want to marry a person from another country and look out, the world may come to an end!

I've provided every document known to man, paid fees upon fees, waited months and months and been apart from my future wife for more then 1.5 years now due to Covid19.............it seems to me that the US Government would like me to just give up and go away now that they have the money they wanted all along, but that's never going to happen.

The interview itself is just nuts.......one person who could be having a bad hair day or whatever can deny your visa without blinking an eye and there is very little you can do about it. They don't know me, they have never even spoken to me.......and they certainly don't know my future wife, and yet.....they hold all the power. Even after you have been approved by the NVC and the USCIS.........that one officer controls it all. Your future life is in their hands, and that's way too much power for one person to have.

Life is too short for this system...........

Hey, how is the interview appointment hunting going?

Anyone on this forum has won the lottery to get K1 interview recently?

I have been waiting since Oct 2021. This is a nightmare and unacceptable.

We were finally able to setup an interview date in Ho Chi Minh City after 5 1/2 months of trying............and she passed!

We are both very excited..........it's about time.

As a matter of fact, she will be here on April 9th and I can't wait. We have not seen each other in person for 2 years now!!

I wish everyone the best of luck........never give up!!!!

We are still waiting for an interview appointment, going on 5 months now!!

It took almost 6 months after getting DQ'ed for us to get an interview.

I see you filed for K1, those may have different wait times than CR1/IR1 though. Don't know for sure.

What is DQ? Yeah, my is a K1. We started this whole process back in mid Nov 2000. Is the appointment process same for CR1 and K1 where in you have to log in and look for available appointment slots yourself? You would think there would be a better way of it. Why not do first in first out like they have basically been doing in this whole process.

DQ is documentarily qualified, where NVC checks all of your docs and says you're good to go for the interview... and passes your case to the embassy.

I did not have to log in and look for appointment slots. NVC scheduled the interview with the embassy on our behalf.

I imagine appointment slots are first come first serve, and you have to log in at the right time to snag one.

Thanks Bill.  Wish the NVC or the embassy would schedule interviews for the applicants for K1 VISA as well, would definitely be easier then the current system of us logging in and looking for slots randomly.
