864A Questions for married couples

Hi all,

I've read through a ton of these but still really confused about the 864 and 864a.

So my mother (who has a greencard) is filing for my brother. She is in her early 80s and does not work so no tax filing. She completed the 864. So I complete the 864 too? Or 864A

I file taxes with my husband. My salary is enough to cover the amount needed. However the forms asks for adjusted gross income which on our transcript cover both mine and my husband's income. Does this mean my husband should file a 864A. That is not a problem if that's the case. I just want to get everything right the first time.

What is the best thing to do? Thank you
