I think that those defending Dave, and those ridiculing Dave have misunderstood him completely - which is precisely the point of his monologues. I'd encourage watching his special, because as always he is very funny but also very real, even when he might be wrong about something. It's clear that the death of Daphne greatly troubled him, and instead of focusing on 'gender' he got to the heart of things when he recalled a story about Daphne "I need you to believe I'm having a human experience". He might talk about 'gender' but he also blasts silly bathroom laws for the ridiculousness that they are. As always his main focus is a lot on race, almost suggesting that transgenderism is a 'white people thing', (of course it is not), and that he feels attacked not solely because he's a comedian saying outrageous things, but because he is black and being attacked by individuals using 'white privilege' to complain. However, I'm not sure what he expects (indeed he should probably expect it), this is what most standup comics of his caliber experience by saying the things he does.

 

Still, it's always amusing what people find to be outraged about. Did they gloss over the rape, murder, and Jew jokes in the offensive column? Remember why the late Norm MacDonald got removed from SNL (the show that eulogized how funny he was now that he's dead?) because he refused to stop making jokes about OJ being a murderer, and OJ's privileged buddy at NBC didn't like that. Now-a-days, everyone makes those same OJ jokes that were considered so 'edgy' back then, even Dave himself.

I guess if you find someone disparaging blacks and women using blatant vulgarity to be a funny thing (comedy?), then that is fine. Says a lot about the audience.
