Am I Clear for Entry into USA after Updated Vaccine Requirement Rule?

You mentioned that Astra Zeneca has a 12-week period between shots, and that the Moderna supply was quickly exhausted. Is there any chance a new shipment of Moderna could arrive within those 12 weeks as to justify waiting? We're nearing November so we'll have answers soon; obviously I'm not the most qualified to talk about this, but you definitely should be aware of all the factors at play here.

The news media is full of rumors of India getting shipments of Pfizer, Moderna and J&J but none have materialized so far.  I am hoping that they will stamp my visa soon and I can immigrate by the end of this month.

P.S. how the hell did you manage to make a VAC appointment for passport Submition lol. I got my second 221G in the last week of September and I can't find an appointment. It keeps on showing "currently no appointment available."

I had my interview cancelled January 2020. Then after the lockdowns I had my interview on the January of 2021 and got served with a 221g for missing documents (2021 tax transcript and additional relationship proof). Then further lockdowns and I was given a date to submit the missing documents June of this year. Then my medicals expired and they requested updated medicals last month and got an appointment to submit the documents on the 6th. My case has been going on for 2 years now ever since my file reached the embassy. lol. Endless bureaucracy.

Of course the covid vaccination requirement that is allegedly coming into effect in November for all travelers to the US is a different story and I sincerely hope they will include an exemption for immigrants from countries where an approved vaccine is not available.

That is what I am afraid of. Me taking the AstraZeneca that USA doesn't recognize yet then having to be jabbed again with shots that they require. India's AstraZeneca is not recognized by the UK even though it's the same formulation made under license with a new name.

Trust me I know the pain lol. I filed in August 2019 and here we are. I kinda followed the similar trajectory. Jan 2021 interview and got 221g. Submit the required documents by end of January and got another 221g to submit my passport and updated medical last month. Now I can't get a drop box appointment. It's a show.

Regarding your vaccine status : I'd advise you to get the Visa first. I'm sure there will be exemptions for people who do not have the access to approved vaccines.

Forget what I said in my previous reply. Recent news show that India won't be buying anymore Pfizer or Moderna since the locally made vaccines are cheaper and easier to store and transport. Also India won't give legal immunity to pfizer and moderna for vaccine side effects so they are not willing to sell anymore doses too.

I have an appointment with the vax center tomorrow. I'm going to get it done. How fast do you think they'll stamp my visa now that they have my updated medicals and passport? I hope I can be on a plane before the end of this month so I don't have to wait 12 weeks to get my second dose.

If you have already sent your passport with updated medical, you'll have your visa within a week. Maybe in 5-6 days

So should I reschedule my vax appointment to next week? See if the CEAC status changes and if I get the passport back, I'll just immigrate by the end of the month and get my shots over there. It would be much simpler than having a mix of multiple vaccines in my body.

My suggestion would be to get vaccinated ASAP and make sure you get COVISHIELD, and not that covaxin #######.

Yeah best not to delay it any further now that I know covishield is accepted. Any further delays would only stretch out the issue further. I just hope they accept the Indian dose 1 vaccine certificate and give me one less shot of pfizer or moderna.

I'm pretty sure you have to be fully vaccinated, which would mean both doses are needed. If you're coming on the K1, you will need to have the covid vaccine before filing AOS. I think you may possibly be able to do the medical exam again in the US when you're fully vaccinated for AOS

Guys I took the first shot of the vaccine. Had 3 days of uneasiness and mild fever. My CEAC tracker says my Administrative Processing now. What does this mean? Am I going to have to wait several more weeks or months?

CEAC now says my visa has been issued. Waiting for my passport in the mail. I feel bad for taking the astra zeneca vaccine early. I wish I didn't. Now I have to take the American ones once I get there.

MS. PSAKI:  I would point to the CDC.  As you know, we’re going to have an update on our international travel guidelines as we get closer to November.  Early November remains the timeline that we’re focused on, but I will leave it to our health experts to outline more specifics.

Has there been any clarification on this since then?

There is now a set date, but no more specifics yet in regards to who would be treated similar as Americans: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/international-travel-during-covid19.html "an effective date of November 8, 2021"
