Biometrics for us citizen?

I'm completing the i130 for my wife on the USCIS website, it states..

 

"a few weeks after you submit your application, we will contact you to schedule an appointment at an application support center near you. At the appointment, we will get your fingerprints, photograph and signature"

 

however I don't leave the UK until Jan 4th 2022, which is when my flight is booked. 

 

I was advised that they wouldn't need my fingerprints etc. Only my wife's later in the process?

They will not need your fingerprints.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Correct.  Instructions quoted do not match the context of filing for a spouse.
