Divorce not finalized by the time it’s deadline to apply for I-751Petition to Removal Conditions on residence

Hi everyone ! 
I hope somebody can help me to answer my question!🙏

 

Me and my husband applied for a divorce a few months before it was time for me to apply for I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence.

The divorce took longer then expected and my GC was close to be expired. 
I collected all the paperwork including the copy of divorce court hearing notice and mentioned in my Cover letter that I am in process of getting a divorce and I will send the Finalized divorce papers as soon as I receive them.

My question is: Should I send the Finalized divorce papers with cover letter explaining and asking to add it to my case? If so, do I send it to the same address as where I send all the paperwork? 
OR should I wait for the request of additional evidence? 
I read that it’s very unlikely that my letter will make it to my case file.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I'm sorry to hear about your circumstances. I am in a similar boat and was planning to send the final divorce decree once I receive it from the court. I guess it wouldn't be much different from waiting for the RFE though.

 

I have a question for you ~ When you submitted your petition, did you cross the "divorced" status? I did and am wondering if I did the right thing as technically we are not divorced yet!

That's what I thought too, I'm worried that waiting for RFE would just make the process longer. 

Yes, I did. The only thing that I didn't fill out is the divorce date.

Don't bother sending them the divorce decree, it probably won't get attached to your file and you'll receive an RFE anyway.

 

I didn't have my decree when I submitted my removal of conditions with a divorce waiver and I received my RFE like 2 months ago requesting a copy of the divorce decree and the divorce petition (I got this from the courthouse records for like $4). It went very smoothly and I'm just waiting for them to schedule my interview now.

10 months or so. I did my Biometrics at 10 months and then RFE like 3 days later.
