I am about to start my k1 process with my fiance. There is a lot of conflicting information out there especially after talking to any sort of immigration lawyer, I am more confused than ever. According to the attached information, I am allowed to use my child support and my job in come together to meet the requirements. With my job alone I do not meet the requirements but with my child support I do meet the requirements. However, what I'm finding online contradicts what the attorney has told me and now I am very very confused. I talked to the lawyer from boundless.com and now after my 15 minutes of talking to her, she told me that I could not use my child support and That I would have to get a sponsor. What I'm seeing on the website is that the sponsor needs to be making 125% income but she told me 100% income. So what I'm trying to figure out now is she told me I can't use my income but the attached information says that I can. I need to figure out how I can do that. She also gave me conflicting information about the sponsor. It would be good to use a sponsor so that we could be more apt to get approved. Can someone please clarify since lawyers are making this more confusing?

The best source is the form's instructions: https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-864instr.pdf "For example, you may include a recent letter from your employer, showing your employer’s address and telephone number, and indicating your annual salary. You may also provide pay stubs showing your income for the previous six months. If your claimed income includes alimony, child support, dividend or interest income, or income from any other source, you may also include evidence of that income."

You can use child support, especially if your kids are younger and not about to 'age out' of needing support. This varies by state.  Provide a copy of court ordered amount, and checks/bank deposits showing the amount you receive each month.
