Hey everyone! Originally planned to file in August when the filing window opened, then got completely sidetracked when I started a new job in September but we finally got around to it today! Shipped via FedEx and should arrive tomorrow. Here's what we included, dates spanning the start of our marriage to present:

  • Check written for prescribed fees, paper-clipped to the top page
  • G-1145: E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance
  • Half slip for "renewal" that was included with the permanent resident card
  • I-751: Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence
  • Copies of front and back of permanent resident card
  • Statements for joint checking and savings accounts (monthly for checking, quarterly for savings)
  • Statements for joint credit card
  • Statements for retirement and brokerage accounts with accompanying printed page showing each other as beneficiaries
  • Tax transcripts for 2018, 2019, and 2020
  • Copies of shared health, dental, vision, and life insurance cards and other insurance enrollment confirmations
  • Two vehicle titles that have us named as owners
  • Lease for our current residence, plus corresponding utility and other related bills (monthly since start of lease)
  • Proof of joint renter's insurance
  • Specific to our circumstances, as we were long distance for the first year of our marriage and then lived with a parent for the second year of our marriage:
    • Letter explaining the circumstances around our past living situation
    • Photos and receipts of the travel, visits, and dates that we did in the first year of our marriage
    • Receipts of gifts that we exchanged/had shipped in the first year of our marriage
    • Affidavits from the parent attesting that we had lived with them for our second year of marriage
    • Photos throughout our second year of marriage
  • Copies of forms and registration for the adoption of our dog in April 2021

Two-hole punched at the top, then bound together with a fastener. Had to use a FedEx Express Small Box to ship the whole thing! Can't believe we're at it again, two years later. Time went by quickly - best of luck to us all!

To suggest sending only recent statements is not the best advice and could result in an RFE. I realize you and I have already discussed this. I'm really stating this for anyone else who might read this and think they only need to send the latest statements. USCIS saw our statements during AOS, too. That was in 2019, almost two years ago. They want to see ongoing evidence for the whole time. Of course, every petition will be different, but there are "rules" in that they want to see the entire history of the marriage. Hopefully, the way you did it will work for you and I hope your approval comes soon. We're both at Vermont, and it seems to be moving!

I never suggest to send only recent statements, all I’m saying: to send all 2019-2021 statements is not obligatory.

And yes, I do not think it’s right to tell people that they may receive RFE for not sending 24 statements. Because as I was saying: every couple is sending their own tailored package of evidences. And there are no rules.

Yes I was just texting here (not here but in your topic in September Filers) what my attorney emailed me and he is more than 30 years in immigration.

We Mailed out I751 packed Wednesday October 13th through USPS. Arrived Friday October 15th. Received Text message today they opened it. Waiting for them to cash the check.

I am now worried as we only put our recent bank statements for our checking and savings account rather than multiple statements. We did include our tax returns from 2019 and 2020 and other bills like car insurance, life insurance, medical insurance and the newly purchased deed to our new home.  We also have letters from 4 friends and pictures. Do you guys think its okay we didn't include more bank statements since we have other evidence of us being in a relationship?

It will not affect your approval and it won’t delay your approval. All is good! Because you have other serious evidence, for example life insurance. I don’t have that however it doesn’t mean anything. I have my own unique evidence, like multiple trips to exotic destinations or something even more precious, etc.

Those statements are just some part of evidence. Some couples do not have them at all. Do not worry about it please.

I do remember your mentioning that and appreciate that you took the time to share it. Lawyers are known for making mistakes with immigration issues. If you look around this site enough you'll see mistake after mistake that lawyers have made.

I hope you understand that he can’t make same mistakes for 30 years. Anyways, do not please tell to people about possible RFEs or delay because you stress them out and this is not good. Especially nothing they can do at this time when everything is shipped. They have a lot to stress out except that. 👏

My intention was not to stress you out, but to make clear to others who might see your advice that bank statements , if they are sent, should cover the entire span of the marriage, or at least the entire span of the existence of the account. People have gotten RFEs for this. That's a fact. Knowing this fact can save  from this particular stress those who haven't sent theirs yet.

Signed up on the Lawfully app and just got a notification from it, saying my case was updated to show fingerprints were taken. Just checked it online as well and said the same. So I guess biometrics are being reused.

Thank you, but since we have NOA + Expiring GC we are totally fine for 24 months.  Because anyways most of ROC filers eventually will file for citizenship next year and most likely both cases will be approved at the same time. Hopefully it will take us less than 24 months.

Great to hear that it looks they are receiving and acknowledging petitions promptly! Did they process your payment already (if you don't mind me asking)? Just wondering when to expect it to hit our account once they've sent over a case number.

I hope it doesn't take that long, but even if it does, we're together! That's the important part.
