In other words a hidden tax for the middle and lower class via price increases on consumer goods to compensate for the higher cost of doing business.

Edit: To be clear my comment wasn't in regards specifically to the story you posted but was addressing the over all idea the left has that we should raise taxes on corporations and it will somehow help the middle and lower classes.

I know I am pretty clueless about government spending and finance, but I feel especially stupid knowing AOC is so much smarter than me.

OK, they had to raise the debt ceiling so the government could continue to work, and the debt keeps growing daily.  We can't meet our daily obligations, BUT somehow the dems want to pass a 5 trillion bill that will cost nothing?

I'm not getting it.

I think the claim (which is patently false) comes from the idea that they are raising taxes in ways that aren't obvious on the surface.  For example, it is easy to see the tax margin tax changes, and that they affect those making a LOT of earned income.  But what they aren't really talking about is that if the retirement investment changes go into play this year, starting in 2022.  There will be a HUGE aggregate amount of tax revenue generated in future years by these changes that limit how we are allowed to save for our families' futures, which is sad considering the extra taxation comes at a time when soclal security is on the rocks.

But in the end, we have to remember it is a man who is quickly losing his mental capacity that is claiming this will not cost anything.  I suppose he has Hunter on the case trying to find alternate ways to pay for Socialism, but in the end, Margaret Thatcher will always be right.  OPM only last for so long.

Let's not forget Pelosi.  She also said it would cost ZERO.

And Joe’s “Boy”.

Cedric Richmond, Biden's senior adviser, repeated the claim on Sunday, saying the $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill – which Sens. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., have stalled – will cost nothing. "I think what's important for people to understand is that this piece of legislation costs zero," Richmond said. "We're going to pay for it all by raising taxes on the very wealthy and big corporations."

I saw that. Chris Wallace called him out heavy on that,  much like the duck in the shooting gallery he popped right back up and kept repeating

Well, as it stands right now, if they are able to push this abomination of a bill thru successfully, I will be paying taxes on more than $1,000,000 by 2031 that I am currently exempt from based on tax laws in place for the past three decades.   And no, this does not count what we are already paying at the gas pump, grocery stores, etc.  Nor does it include the proposed mileage tax on vehicles (which will affect EVERYONE, even if they don't earn income).

For all those who voted for Biden, or perhaps who support his current attempted taxation, please don't believe the lie that you will only pay higher taxes if you make over $400k.  It is not true, at all.

Not to worry, Jen Psaki said it would be incomprehensible that corporations would raise prices.  Does anyone in DC actually believe what they say?
