No Priority Date on I797 Notice of Action (split + merged)

We have two petitions approved for the wife and child of our client who was granted asylum in February 2020.  The petitions were approved in July, and sent to NVCNVC has created case numbers for them, BUT we have not received a Welcome Letter.  Also, neither of the 797 Notices of Action had a Priority Date on it.  So I don't even know where they are in the processing time line.  At the same time, the file has been sent to the Cameroonian Embassy for processing and they have been in touch with the wife.  However, she cannot access the interview scheduling system to make an interview appointment because we have not received a DS-260 number, which we can't get until we get the NVC Welcome Letter and Invoice.  All of this seems a little out of order in terms of the processing, but that's where we are.

Is the lack of a priority date something that would cause NVC to return the petitions for USCIS as I gather they do from time to time?

How do we correct the lack of a Priority Date?

I have contacted NVC by email asking about the Priority Date issue and when they responded, they didn't answer the question and simply sent me the Case Numbers for these individuals.  I am concerned that we are lost  in the shuffle because we don't have a priority date.

Any experience or advice about this situation?

I posted this question on another thread, and realize I perhaps should have started a new thread.  Sorry - I'm a new member here.

We have two approved petitions that have been sent to NVC.  The approvals do not contain a Priority Date - that box is just blank.  We have not received a Welcome Letter or Invoice.  We do have Case Numbers from NVC and it appears he embassy in Cameroon has been sent the file, as they have reached out to the wife of our client who was granted asylum.  His wife and son are coming as derivate asylees, V92.

I am concerned that we are lost in some shuffle at NVC because we don't have a priority date.  When I asked them about it by email, they didn't respond to that question and just sent me the Case Numbers.

Any experience or suggestions on this situation - do I need to deal with the missing Priority Date issue?  And what is the best way to do that?  Is it possible that the missing Priority Date is the reason we don't have Welcome Letters?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Hi there.

I would suggest submit another email to their inquiry team.

This time only place one question > what is the invoice number?

Given that you already have your case number, once you receive invoice number, you no longer will need a formal welcome letter.

Simply log into ceac with using case number and invoice, and ceac should reflect priority date, give you an option to pay fees, upload docs, etc.

Basically what I am saying is, you already have partial information, necessary to find out all the details.

Send them another request, this time not asking a bunch of questions, but just the one about invoice. That way they will have to answer on that question (hopefully🙂)
