Returning to the UK

About 11 years ago I moved to the USA with my now ex wife. To cut a very long story short I am regretting that choice and wish to return to the UK to be with my family.

I am a naturalized citizen now and have no idea where to start. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thank you

Book a plane ticket and go. If it isn’t so great after all, come back. No immigration or visa worries. No ESTA.

You will have to file a US tax return each year if you work and earn wages. You shouldn’t owe any US taxes because you can claim the Foreign Earned Exclusion. It’s a matter of reporting your foreign earnings, then excluding the tax. Also there’s the FBAR to  file online yearly if the total of UK bank accounts exceed $10k. No tax, it’s just a report of monies you hold outside the US.

Can't you just.......go?  You are now a dual citizen, right?  If you have family to stay with there, I imagine you could simply fly back and live with them temporarily until you figure out a long-term plan, job, home, etc.

Google flights from Minneapolis to London.  Or to another city in the UK.

You are a US citizen now and you can choose to live anywhere in the world for how long you want with no consequences at all. All you need to do is book your ticket and go your merry way. Uncle Sam doesn't care as long as of cause you keep filling and paying your taxes, and child support (if any).

You can also come back anytime you want; just flash your US passport 😀.

Hi Mark, I assume you still have a current UK passport? If so, nothing is stopping you. You are a dual citizen of both countries and can travel back and forth as much as you please.
