Wife is a previous Green Card holder and wants to re-apply

Timeline

My Husband and I also had to reapply - unfortunately he stayed out of the country too long because of a family emergency. 
we applied March of 2021 for the second time and still hasn’t been approved. The first time it took 2 years to get approved (I sure hope that’s not the case this time- but they do have a backlog this time as well as like in 2006) I am living in the US with our son since 2018, and we have filed our taxes together since getting married 2006. I feel like it can take longer for previous green card holders to get approved perhaps because they feel why they leave to begin with. But I feel USCIS fails to understand some on the unforeseen circumstances that can arise ☹️😔 I do wish you guys luck!
