I highly doubt the consulate would accept someone you’ve never met in person as a joint sponsor.   They do look at the relationship there - it’s not just based on income or willingness to do it.

She mentioned an online friend.   I can’t see that ever happening.

Yeah, I'm definitely not talking about online friends.

Just wondering where you got those figures from please? I googled and came up with the figures on this page and why would I have to use a household of 2 please? My husband is in prison, and is a lifer, so therefore won't be living in the household, it'll just be me.

You need to include your husband as your husband would be signing the AOS (and is the sponsor)  but he would be including savings from you the beneficiary. You can't just look at the household as 1 person.

This is why (although a longshot) trying for a diversity visa might be an alternative path to the States.

Time to become an A-Student of the I-864 instructions.  For US immigration purposes, there is no such thing as a household of 1.

This is what you need to reference for the i-1864.

If using assets (for spouse of USC) use X3 the number.

Hi, Due to the fact that my husband is a Lifer in prison in PA, we're looking at me sponsoring myself. I know I have to have a percentage in savings over the poverty line, but what would that amount be in USD please? Also, am I better to apply after I have a certain amount saved up, and keep saving whilst my application is processed, or should I have my $$'s all saved up and then apply please?  Can anyone think of any other hurdles associated if I self sponsor myself please?

TIA

You have until today to apply for the GC lottery.

I know its a long shot but it's cheaper than going through the spousal visa (and you don't need a sponsor/ you sponsor yourself)  so make an application now ❤️
