I need to update both my name + my citizenship. Since I need to change my  name, I assume I will have to go in.

I can see if I click on "replace card" and provide the reason as "new citizenship" it seems they let me select USA (but I haven't gone through all the way)
However, when I click on "biographic change" for my name change, it just says I need to go to an enrollment center.

Maybe just use the "new citizenship" reason and show up at that interview and bring my name change documents? that way I can do both at the same time? 🤷‍♂️

Based on what you guys said, I would need to go in person anyway :)

Yes, my understanding is that you have to go in person to change a name or citizenship. (My US Citizen wife also had to go there in person when she changed to her married name)

I thought @Pat&Vince might have stumbled on a loop-hole, but it seems not.

Yes absolutely.

So I lucked out, as I checked for appointments availability today, a slot was available the same day at 7PM, I literally jumped on it and went to the global entry at SFO.

showed up 30 minutes ahead, was the only guy there and they let me in at 6:30… out at 6:35 approved and citizenship updated, easy peasy!

So I just received my passport book today, in 19 days! Definitely worth paying the extra 65$

Funny though yesterday, the status on state.gov still said “under review” and was changed to approved this morning… pretty much just as the postman was delivering the priority mail.

Now waiting for the card and my original CS.

Next is global entry and other I9 updates.

WOW!! 19 DAYS !! Wouldn't have thought it. Hope we get ours in time as well. Thanks for sharing the info.

What airport did you go to?

I looked at SFO’s website and it specifically says to not come for a walk-in… ugh!

They may not want you doing walkins at the main GE office, but if you are coming back from overseas you can just go through the “appointment on entry” line (not sure if that’s exactly what it’s called, something like that) at the global entry kiosk. I did that on my last trip back a couple of weeks ago to update my citizenship and it wasn’t a problem, there was also someone who had had their GE application approved and needed it processed who they happily took as well.

edit to clarify I did this at SFO

edit ive just seen the update that you actually got an appointment and had it sorted! Oh well maybe someone else will find the info useful :)
