Hi All,

We got PD on December 2020 for CR-1. And it seems like Next Month our appointment date will be sent to us. Now, to submit PCC at NVC, we got it and submitted it on November 2020. My PCC issue date is of 18th Nov 2020 which is valid till 18th Nov 2021. But as the possible timeline is nearing what if the interview date is after 20th Nov, and the current PCC no longer is valid. I’ve been told, they will not issue another one until current one is expired. Is that true? If it is then how is it possible to get PCC within days considering last time it took them 3 weeks?
We don’t want to get more delays or 221g. Any help or suggestions are warmly welcome. Thank you.

PCC is now valid for 2 yearshttps://fam.state.gov/fam/09FAM/09FAM050404.html

Police certificates are valid for two years from the date of their issuance. This includes police certificates from any country visited or inhabited subsequent to the previous clearances but does not apply to police certificates from an area to which the applicant has not returned since previous clearances. Consular officers may request updated police certificates if there is a concern that an individual has a more recent police record that should be reviewed. Any other supporting documents that are subject to change, except for police certificates, are valid for one year.

Is it valid for those certificates as well, in which it clearly states “This certificate is only valid for one year”?

Yes, 2 years: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html

Important: Police certificates expire after two years, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued. If at the time of your interview the following three items are all true, you must bring a new police certificate to your visa interview:

  • You are more than 16 years old;
  • The police certificate submitted to NVC was obtained more than two years ago; and
  • You still live in the country that issued the certificate.

But as the first link I shared stated they may or may not request a newer one: "Consular officers may request updated police certificates if there is a concern that an individual has a more recent police record that should be reviewed."

I think it was after I got PC, so might be between 20th - 25th Nov 2020. If I remember it correctly, that was the only thing that was required after we submitted everything
