DS160 and Visa Appointment Timing

In order to schedule a visa appointment, the applicant needs a DS160 application number.  This gets generated when you start filling out a DS160 and the DS160 is held for 30 days while being completed.

My questions are as follows:

Can the applicant start the DS160, schedule the interview, and then finish the DS160 prior to the medical/visa interview or within 30 days (whichever is sooner)?

Is there a certain timeframe that the applicant must make an appointment within after receiving notification from the consulate that they are ready to schedule an interview?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

You need to finish filling the DS-160 before scheduling the interview -there's a number and barcode generated that will be linked to your appointment-.

You have 4 months to schedule the interview before your I-129f approval expires, though that can be extended in 4 months increments up to a year.
