Travel right after naturalization ceremony?

Hi, I am in a fortunate situation of having been recently recommended for approval of my N-400. I didn't receive my naturalization ceremony invitation yet. I have international travel scheduled for October and November.

Given how difficult some of my citizen friends say it is to get a US passport currently, I wonder, what are my best options if naturalization ceremony gets scheduled a few days or weeks before my travel?

I see that I can get USPS passport appointment easily, and I will schedule one for the next day after the ceremony. But State Dept website says that after USPS appointment I might need to wait 8-16 weeks (???) for a passport. This sounds a bit ridiculous, especially for the advanced first world country. (in a third-world country that I am from I could get a new passport in two days).

So, what are my options?

  1. Should I try to move my ceremony date? Is it reasonable, is it possible, and is it going to negatively affect my naturalization process?
  2. Is it possible to travel abroad after the ceremony but before I get a passport?
  3. Is it possible to get a passport in reasonable time (1 week or so)? Money is no object.

1. You can, no negative effect other than delayed citizenship.

2. You are going to have issues at POE while entering. Depending on the country you will be returning from, you may not be able to board the plane since you won't have GC, they may not accept NC as a valid document for travel.

3. You can make an appointment at a passport agency with the proof of upcoming travel, you'll get the passport the same day. Getting appointment may be difficult in some locations.

thank you!

On 3, I googled passport agencies, and it seems to be the right approach. They only take appointments by phone, and they take appointments 10 days in advance (but the appointment itself must be no earlier than 72 business hours before the flight). So hopefully they will have appointments available.
