Parents of spouse in AOS process

The parents of my spouse are planning to come visit us in the US on tourist visas.  My spouse is currently in the AOS process (biometrics are done, just waiting for advanced parole and a green card interview date).  My spouse did an AOS from a tourist visa.  Is there a risk that her parents might be turned away at the boarder?  If there is a risk, is it high, and are there any ways to mitigate the risk?

Yes there is a risk, they could be admitted without any questioning regarding their daughter as well. If CBP ask about who they are visiting and ask in more detail about what's their daughter doing here, then it is likely they could be sent back.

Thanks - any chance that her parents might be denied tourist visa renewals in the future because of her AOS from a tourist visa?  I saw some discussion about that somewhere, but had never seen or heard anything about that before until I was reading about her parents traveling to see her.

Very unlikely that would be a reason. More likely they would be denied if they don't own property, don't have jobs to go back, or anything that would mean weak ties. If they have strong ties, I don't see why they would be denied just because the daughter married a US citizen and AOS.

There is always a chance. It is pretty rare for this reason but we have seen someone report back on here that this indeed has been a reason for a B visa denial.
