Hello,

Does anyone know if NVC requires just the Police Certificate, or do they require Police, Imprisonment, and Court records?

The document upload screen only says Police Certificate (Peru); however, in the Document Finder tool, the section states "Police, Court, Prison Records" and lists three separate documents: (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Peru.html)

  • Police Records
  • Imprisonment Records
  • Court Records

Unclear here if only to submit just the Police Certificate (Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales), or if I need all 3 of them for the NVC?

Thank you!

You need police record. If the record is clear, that is sufficient. If the police record mentions anything about arrests or imprisonment, then you have to get such records from corresponding authority.

To be clear -- if the beneficiary has an arrest record or has been imprisoned, even if it does not show up on a police report, it usually (exceptions for minor traffic offences like speeding tickets, etc) needs to be reported in any section asking about arrests or imprisonment in any document.  You would then need the court documentation that show the disposition of the case.  For example, in many countries, when an offense is expunged from your record,  it will no longer appear on a police report.  It still needs to be revealed in your immigration paperwork.

Sorry, I misinterpreted the documents.

We have the Court Record, not the Police Record. Would that suffice for NVC?

No ... you need Certificado de Antecedentes Judiciales, Certificado de Antecedentes Policial, and Certificado Judicial de Antecedentes Penales.

do the three police reports need to be translated in to english?

Nope! Since the 3 records are in Spanish and the embassy is located in Peru, no need to have them translated to English.
