Pre Interview Letters

I understand that some awaiting their IR1 visa appointments (in India) are getting a pre-interview letter. As per the letter, it states that they could expect an interview letter in the next 60 days. I searched some sites and I see that sending these pre-interview letter is a 'pilot project'. I was wondering if it is a pilot project for just IR1 visas or is it for all IR visas? Does anyone know more about what's the pre-interview letter all about?

Because of covid and the embassy shutdowns,  immigration ended up with a backlog of over 500,000 IV cases alone (according to the youtube video)/ just read it after seeing your post

USCIS,  itself,  has not explained the pre interview letters

 

My guess and only my opinion so take that for what it is

so many people started calling about their own case immigration even stopped answering the phones at One point,  so they created a computer generated letter that tells people they should hear about the interview in 120 days 

the youtube video goes on to say "if case is not scheduled ,  there is another letter produced saying "u will hear about interview in 120 days"

this letter is just to keep the phone calls at bay 

 

For real information youtube and Facebook are not always "in the know"

look to your country's embassy under visas and news releases to understand what is happening with scheduling as each one has its own priority 

and they were all to have DV lottery done by end of September and still way behind so keep that in mind too
