I have received an RFIE for my I-485. It states "the applicant must submit a copy of their birth certificate...".

I did submit a certified long-form copy of my birth certificate, issued by the relevant authority. It's already in English as its a British birth certificate. I can see that USCIS received it, as a scan is visible under a file in my "Documents" section on the USCIS website. I've uploaded the image USCIS has of this with my info blocked out.

I've found another thread on here where somebody had the same issue.

I have two questions:

- Should I just resubmit another copy of the same birth certificate?

The RFIE seems like a mistake on the part of USCIS. The only issues I can think of are that it is a certified copy from 2020 rather than from my year of birth, and the information is handwritten (do they need me to type it out for them as a 'translation'?)

- If I submit it through the online portal, should I also mail a copy to the address provided in the RFIE?

Thanks for your help!

Date of registration is 45 days after my date of birth.

seem to suggest this is a considered a late registration birth.  So that might be what the RFIE is about.

Thank you for the help. I did the maths wrong. DOB:September 22nd

Birth registered: November 3rd

Which makes it 42 or 43 days depending on if you count the last day.

I think to be safe I will resubmit the birth certificate and look for secondary evidence to submit alongside it.

Update:

I decided not to do anything other than respond to the RFE with a copy of the same birth certificate I had initially submitted, and a cover letter. I submitted the response the same day. This was accepted, and my i485 has now been approved. So to anybody reading this, I think the RFE was erroneous, rather than there being any issue with my birth certificate being issued too late after birth.
