Not to mention that we have to sign a legal document saying we will support that immigrant but our government supports those that come illegally

Actually they are.

I was just thinking the other day that in order to let any of the illegal immigrants out of detainment they should have to first find one of the virtue signalling open-borders supporters to sign to financially support them.

They do

Yeah, pretty sad that people who immigrate legally have to. I don't see them doing all of that to people who migrating to USA through Mexico border.

I wonder if I could pack up all my wife's aunts, uncles, and cousins and send them to Mexico would immigration be faster. Serious joking though.

It is hypocritical to mandate something with an asterisk. I am also confused at the fact that people want to save lives, but getting the vaccine doesn't actually guarantee it. Vaccinated folks have died after infection. When there's a form of treatment off label we got the media trying to shut it down. I am just wondering what is the goal? To jab everyone, or to save lives? All options should be on the table if it's about saving lives.

They should make Johnson & Johnson one shot available at St. Lukes for anyone going to the USA.

The problem with that is that they also stated that you can't receive any other vaccines until 2 weeks after the covid full vaccine.  So, if you needed other vaccines at St. Lukes, you would still need to come back 2 weeks after a J&J jab.

This is wrong and I can't delete or edit it.  I mis-remembered the original St. Lukes statement.  You could get other vaccines the same day as your final Covid jab.

If you were getting a 2 jab at St. Lukes, you would have to come back for the second, but if they had J&J, you could get all vaccines the same day.

*** Mod warning. Enough with the political rants. We know this is frustrating times but keep from deteriorating threads.

US CDC guidelines do allow for J&J vaccine to be administered concurrently with other routine vaccines on the same day. Also they are using the terminology "complete the series" rather than "fully vaccinated" so the two week rule applied in some other situations doesn't apply in this case.

My wife is going to Saint Luke's tomorrow.  She's fully vaccinated so it doesn't concern us, but I'll get her to ask about what they will actually be doing about unvaccinated applicants there.

It would be great if your wife finds out how St. Luke's handles unvaccinated applicants. It'll be good info for anyone who needs to do the medical.

Really? Where can I get a version of the vaccine that doesn't have emergency use authorization?

https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-approves-first-covid-19-vaccine

August 23, 2021

"Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine has been known as the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, and will now be marketed as Comirnaty (koe-mir’-na-tee), for the prevention of COVID-19 disease in individuals 16 years of age and older. The vaccine also continues to be available under emergency use authorization (EUA), including for individuals 12 through 15 years of age and for the administration of a third dose in certain immunocompromised individuals."

As stated in the article, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine "Comirnaty" has been given full FDA approval. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine that has been circulating for the past several months have been, and will continue to be authorized for EUA. But going forward, Pfizer will be manufacturing under the official brand name. The only difference between the EUA version and the FDA approved "Comirnaty" is that the latter has a brand name slapped onto it. Moderna is just around the corner from receiving the same full FDA approval.

Pfizer has 100% full US FDA approval and is no longer under emergency use authorization.  In the US you could find US FDA fully approved COVID vaccine for free in tens of thousands of convenient neighborhood locations. Pfizer is a little more difficult to come by in the Philippines but is somewhat available.

For the record, I'm also not happy about this new requirement to be vaccinated for COVID-19 before completing the medical exam. If you're going to enforce something like that, you should first have some type of measures in place to ensure the individual can readily receive it. However, I think it's harmful to use this topic as a vehicle to spread misinformation about the vaccines themselves.

My thoughts exactly.

I am concerned because not everyone in the Philippines who wants the vaccine can easily get it and it isn't clear how St. Luke's is going to manage unvaccinated applicants. That adds more stress and another potential delay to those people who still need to do the medicals before they immigrate.

I am not concerned about the vaccines' safety (me, my family and close friends have been vaccinated for months now).
