When you submit all the docs in the CEAC portal, do you get an email stating that The National Visa Center (NVC) updated the status of your immigrant visa application?

11/17/2016: Got engaged
11/28/2016: I-130 sent to Chicago IL lock box
01/12/2016: NOA1

Thanks for making this thread! Submitted our last documents to NVC on 09/23/21.

Few questions:

  1. Which date do we go by, the date on the DS-260 or the date we submitted the civil documents?
  2. Is the NVC a first-in/first-out process, or are there some individuals who are processed before the NVC Timeframe estimate (today listed as 08/25/21)?

welcome,

1. the date is the date that you hit Submit on, so the most recent date marked under your documents whether they are Civil or AOS

2. Generally speaking yes, NVC processes by date submission order but the note below that I've posted before will help:

Cases are reviewed generally in submission date order but people will hear back at different times, due to each person's case being different, some cases will take longer to review, some not so long.

They do not release feedback based on strict submission date order, from experience there is usually a deviation of a week or two, meaning if someone posts they got reviewed and their submission was 25th, there may be people who will still be posting review feedback from as far back as 11th. Some documents and cases just take longer to review, if the official review dates passes your submission date by a week or so then calling the NVC may help.
