EAD card processing time

Hello, July 2020 flier here. My wife just completed her biometrics last month. I checked her cases statuses for her EAD and AP today, and it finally says both were approved and that notices were sent out. Does anyone how long it will take for her actual EAD card to be processed and mailed out from the date of approval (9/14/21)?

In our case, our status showed approved and letters sent first, and then about a week after that our status was updated to card issued with a USPS tracking number. Her card arrived 2 days after that.

Thank you for the response. Hopefully, we get ours that fast.

Hey Knox,

I have just reviewed your timeline as I'm trying to find out a realistic time estimate for the EAD + AP combo card. I noticed it took a little over 8 months for yours to arrive? Was that a "normal" case, or did they want more info throughout the process?

Should I expect to wait about 8 months as well?

Thank you so much in advance,

Diana

Yes. 8 months or more, that’s a “normal” timeline these days

Jeez, that's insane // 8 months without work and 8 months to travel abroad, crazy situation...

Do you happen to know if the "start date" of the visa starts once you pass the interview or starts on the date the visa is issued?

Let's say I have the interview one day and only receive my passport 2 months later (because the embassy is taking very long on the applications), does the visa start just before they send out the passport or on the day of that passed interview?

Thank you so much // if anyone else knows the answer to do this, I'd really appreciate it

Diana,

I honestly do not know what "normal" is right now as far as processing times in Tennessee.

No one that we know is going through the process in this state, so we have no one to compare with. ( I haven't looked on here in a long time )

Our case is very "normal", not complicated and they have not asked for any additional information. My wife was very thorough when we prepared our documents. We included everything, neat and organized.

When we asked for her AP and work permit they were rather quick to get that to her. Since then, nothing.

I know Tennessee took in a lot of Afghan refugees when we left that region. I'm not sure if that has placed a larger burden on immigration in our state and increased processing times.. Pure speculation, of course.

Hey,

Thank you for the fast response, I really appreciate it. I also undertand that it's really hard to compare cases during these hard times.

When you mentioned the AP and how quick they were getting that to her, was it in less than 8 months (since adjustment of status) as per your timeline?

Thank youuu,

Di

I called in I think after 7 months (from sending our documents) and asked them to at least give us her combo card so that my wife could work (she was going stir crazy! LOL)

I explained that we wanted to bring over my step son as soon as possible and my wife needed to work to help pay for that (COVID in Thailand being bad, etc.). They were extremally pleasant and within a month she was scheduled for her fingerprints and we had the combo card.

As of 10 August our status shows "Ready to be scheduled for an interview", but nothing else has happened. Frustrating because our case really isn't complicated at all. It would be a quick and easy case to get off the books. But, we are together and I'm grateful for that.

The visa expires 6 months after the medical exam date: https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/panel-physicians/tuberculosis.html "Travel clearance is valid for 6 months from the time the evaluation is complete."
