Ok, but then its no longer about understanding K-1 visa timeline. Its about how-to-change K-1 visa to CR-1

As I said, you are free to ignore posts, but others are free to post.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Yes, as recap. Of all responses and discussions, this is the perfect answer in clarifying and understanding the timeline.

·         6-8 Months 129F USCIS

·         1-2 Months at NVC (National Visa Center)

·                            Case Number & Invoice Number

·         1-3 Months US Embassy Kyiv

·                            DS-160

·                            Police Clearance Certificate

·                            Medical Exams

·                            Interview

Note: My fiancé already has her police certificates. This is different by country. You don't have to wait to get ahead of this unless in some cases the police certificates may have an expiration date.

Check by Embassy to get the approved medical facilities for K-1 visa physical exams.

We applied BEFORE COVID.  And were lucky in many ways.  Application was received around Aug 1, 2019, got K-1 visa end of Feb, 2020.  Got my (now) wife out on special flight to NY on MAU March, 2020.  15 months from her arrival in US to get married, apply for, and then finally receive Green Card. If you want to ask questions on the phone, I speak reasonably fluent Russian.  My Ukrainian phone (after 9/25 for a couple of weeks)

The dates at the National Visa Center depends on when you filed your paperwork. I filed for my husband and stepson pre-covid and would agree with that 1-2 months. I am currently waiting for the National Visa Center for my other stepchildren. If they request additional documents it will take longer. However, per the National Visa Center website here are the current dates they are working on:

Current case file creation time:

Current case creation time frame: As of 20-SEP-2021, we are working on cases that were received from USCIS on 7-SEP-2021.

Once USCIS approves your I-797, they will send your case to the National Visa Center (NVC) for processing. At NVC, we will create your visa case and enter the data from your petition into the system.

After creating your case, we will send you instructions for processing, as well as a Welcome Letter that includes your Case Number and Invoice ID. You will use these numbers to log into our Consular Electronic Application Center (https://ceac.state.gov).

IMPORTANT: Keep your Welcome Letter in a safe place, as you will need this information to log into CEAC throughout the entire visa process.

Take this time to review the types of required civil documents and how to find them, plus information about what forms and information your petitioner needs to prove he or she can financially support you.

Current case review time:

Current case review time: As of 20-SEP-2021, we are reviewing documents submitted to us on 8-JUL-2021.

Before the National Visa Center reviews your case, you must pay all fees and submit all required documents, such as:

  • Petitioner’s Affidavit of Support;
  • Supporting financial documents;
  • Applicant’s DS-260, and
  • Applicant’s civil documents.

Required documents vary based on petition type. Take this time to review the types of required civil documents and how to find them, and information about what forms and information your petitioner needs to prove he or she can financially support you.
