Its worth nothing that the 6-8 month I-129F processing times are very inaccurate.

We got NOA1 9/8/20 and NOA was 7/8/21... the entire time it showed 5-7 months.  I would say based on the spreadsheets found on this forum the processing time is accurate for 15-25% of the applicates for a given month.  When we got our NOA2 there were still roughly 20% of open cases from other NOA1 filed in Sept 2020.

Yea, I am not counting such luck for myself as you've had. I still haven't received my NOA1 since filing July 1. I did get my receipt number by calling in. No one bothered to send it. I'm taking this as a hint of what is to come.

I recommend you read the information posted by the user before me.

I don't know what your embassy is, but you are probably looking at a total time of 1.5 years.

This is the best guess currently. I just had our K1 sent to the Bogota embassy today so we likely have two months until everything is done here still and our NOA1 was May 2020. It looks like Ukraine has a similar backlog.

unless K1 is your only option i would strongly recommend looking at a CR1 even if you already started the K1 process. Best of luck.

We have waited from petition to interview 1,6 month accurate,,so be ready to wait, but as far as I know Ukraine started to schedule interviews earlier after shut down so probably your case will be faster. Just be ready for anything.

Ukraine embassy Kyiv

Ukraine Kyiv embassy is currently is 4-6 weeks.

The times below start from the NOA1 date (application receipt date from USCIS):

  • I-129F:  6-8 months, USCIS
  • Case No. and Invoice No.:  1-2 months, NVC
  • Packet 3 letter/email, medical, DS-160, Police Clearance Certificate, Interview:  1-3 months, US Embassy Kyiv.

You are lucky that Kyiv resumed K1 interviews Aug/Sep 2020.  There is not much of a backlog there.  It will go faster if you stay proactive and get the police clearance certificate and civil documents ready (wait until the I-129F is approved and is at NVC).

SteveBoston the bionic hero! Thank you!! This is what I was hoping to understand. I was reading that Ukraine started processing. I was not understanding the bifurcated process times. Theres 3 total, now I understand!!! if you ever try to find out "hey I want to estimate when my fiance is on US soil" you only get the USCIS timeline, but its not clear if this is NVC included or anything.. Thank you VERY MUCH for clarifying this!!!!

All this information is so aggregated and I'm getting false information from everywhere with small percent chance of clarity through legal BS. Information can be so generic to the point of absolutely useless!

Not sure what “false information” you think you’re getting.   It’s pretty clear that the USCIS processing times listed on their web site apply to the petition adjudication part of the process only.   NVC and consulates have nothing to do with USCIS.

Understanding the process is critical.  USCIS and DOS are separate entities, thus have different processing times.  Another thing to consider is that every case is unique, so your case could fall in or outside of the average.  Good luck.

False information everywhere. Check earlier on page 1 of this topic where someone suggested to change my application to CR1, Google searches for resources, and the USCIS website is about as clear as mud about the entirety of the process to me. I got what I came for. SteveBoston was very clear and concise with a layman’s term explanation.

How is that false information?? Choose your words wisely. It was merely a suggestion and very correct and sensible one as currently K1 takes the same, and often longer, time to process than CR1. It’s not a hidden secret that consulates prioritize CR1 over K1. Don’t forget that CR1s get a green card right after entry while K1s have to wait another 1-2 years for adjustment of status to receive a green card.

Choose my words carefully? I imagine that comes with some kind of spanking if I don't. I came here for answers. I got much more clarification from SteveBoston. I don't need anything more.

And we’re giving you answers. Just because you didn’t like what the person suggested doesn’t make that false information. So yes, choose your words carefully as there are others who read this forum and rely on the information.

You might be surprised at the number of newbies who don't know the real differences between a K-1 and a CR-1.  That's why someone might mention or suggest that a CR-1 is superior......because it is for many, many cases.  That isn't "false information".  Everyone here is free to post.....just as everyone is free to ignore posts as well.

If someone asks about K-1 visa timeline, it may be best to refrain from suggesting someone completely change their process to CR1.

I understand you want to help. That is noble. Issuing threats or seemingly to-be threats is not. I also want to understand because I also like to help people, same as you.

Ok, but then its no longer about understanding K-1 visa timeline. Its about how-to-change K-1 visa to CR-1

That would be a violation of VJ’s TOS. Everyone is free to post whatever suggestions they want. https://www.visajourney.com/terms-of-service/

Again, just because you didn’t like what I said doesn’t make it a threat. I’m out. Good luck with the process.
