Impossible to follow now the new rules for NCR but looks like they will be under GCQ level 4 from September 16 to 30. This is on a 5 level scale with level 5 being the highest.

The link explains the details but I don’t have the inclination to summarize.  It appears medical clinics may be closed in level 4 so I guess that means SLEC may have to close but who knows what will really happen.

Not only do they have the 5 levels in GCQ but there appears to be a stand alone ECQ, but it also appears LGUs can do what they want.

These lock downs are just insane and it is not working, hopefully they will get more vaccines so those that want to take them can and those who don't want them then let them be.  It just screams they don't know what to do with this whole crisis, I am not sure anyone's plan has worked out very well.

Travel to Asia is about to get very interesting Singapore, Thailand, Japan are starting to open for vaccinated travelers but their quarantine rules are all different.  Once countries in that region start opening up the others will get the FOMO kicking in and  possibly open up for vaccinated travelers.

Also, with the US opening up to vaccinated travelers may help countries start to open up.

It's tunnel-vision leadership. Duterte's usual tactic of doubling & tripling down on harsh measures until a problem is snuffed out isn't very effective in this situation. Unfortunately, that seems to be the only way he knows how to govern.

And this is putting it nicely  😈

I liked Duterte's quote on face shields.  “Itong (this) face shield will provide an added premium of prevention. It might not really be a big percentage, but even if it's just 5% more protected because you have the shield, mas maganda na yan (then, that is better)."  :)

I heard that gas masks are even more effective.  Maybe I should send that recommendation to Malacanang. :)  You could have the face mask, with the gas mask, plus the face shield for that additional 5%.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

But they still require vaccinated persons to be tested multiple times. The tests are expensive.

What I don't understand is in the Philippines, you get tested after arrival and then you still have to wait in quarantine for several days afterwards.

They did away with the tested on arrival, you go directly to your hotel and you are tested 7 days after arrival now.  As far as I know that is the only test that they are requiring currently, quite a few people were raising red flags for the multiple testing to get money from people.  Still not great you have to spend 10 days in a hotel, cheap hotel means bad internet and bad food.  Expensive hotel means better internet and average food.

Its always best to write the hotel and get their Covid policies.  Some hotels are really strict and wont let you have outside food, etc.  Other hotels will allow food deliveries from Food Panda, Grab, etc.  Also, internet has always been quite poor in Philippine hotels.  Even if the hotel has fast internet, certain floors or locations of rooms (by elevator shafts) can give a poor reception.  If you can bring an extender it may help with the wifi but also you should get load in the airport terminal on arrival.  Both Smart and Globe have booths there.  That way you can at least hotspot your data connection to your laptop if needed.  Otherwise 10 days without internet connection is basically called solitary confinement.

I haven't seen my kids, 5 and 7 nor my fiancée for two years now. I don't get enough time off work to spend it all in quarantine. And trying to meet them anywhere else is a nightmare. All the tests and airfare would cost close to 10k.

I am in the same boat, I haven't seen my wife and daughter since Jan 2020, my work is going to let me work from the hotel remotely while I am stuck in quarantine.
