Changing consulates at the NVC stage

Hi,

We are currently waiting for an interview at the NVC stage of the process. However, due to the backlog, interviews are being scheduled about a year after DQ (this is in Canada). We have the option to potentially change consulates, as my husband has a passport for a different country. We have looked into the processing times with the other country, and it has been within 3-4 weeks. So, we want to change consulates to this country.

I am wondering if anyone has done this before and if they can share their experience with changing consulates (was it easy?)

Thanks!

I am doing this. Not yet at the NVC stage. I am currently in the US visiting with my husband and hope before I leave in early December that our case is approved.

I am a UK citizen with Canadian PR. The London Embassy is way ahead of Montreal which is one of the worst for spousal visa wait times.

The Canadian forum I know recently had a lady who, like your husband, requested her case be moved to the small European country that she is a citizen of. She got her interview there in a matter of weeks. Had she not had this option she believes she’d still be waiting. I feel for those that don’t have the option to move who are waiting on the Montreal US Consulate😔
