Hey everyone, I hope this is the correct forum to post these questions but here it goes. I'm applying for a K1-Fiance visa for my Chinese girlfriend (fiance). I have completed the I-129 F with all the required documents and I'm about to submit them to the USCIS, however my fiance is very worried due to the US-China relationship that it will be even more complicated and delayed than the normal process.

1) She lives in Shanghai and read on the internet that the best consulate operating in China may be in Guangzhou. I called the USCIS and they recommended that I put Shanghai as the consulate because that is where she lives. Does anyone know if consulates are open in China right now and which one I should choose?

2) If/when she gets approved and passes her interview, does she need to fly in from a different country to enter the US? Example: China to Canada, and then Canada to the US. I know the US has currently banned people from China flying into the US but is it a different situation for K1 Visas?

Thank you for any input on this very difficult situation.

1.  Shanghai does not process immigrant visas/fiance visas  .  The case will be routed from NVC to Guangzhou.

2.  The current US travel restrictions exempt fiance visa holders.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you so much for your help! That's great news that she will not have restrictions entering the US because she will have a fiance-visa.

On the I-129F form, Page 8, Section 62.a   do you think I should put Shanghai or Guangzhou..or does it not really matter?
