Uscis website doesn't specifically mention the name of that document under the i9 form section but my extension letter does state that during this time it can be used a proof of work authorization along with my expired card. Also, they posted on the uscis website that the extension period is updated to 24 months now.

Thanks

Are you asking about employment you began before the 2-year GC expired or about new employment?

*It says that you should eventually receive a new extension letter: https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-extends-evidence-of-status-for-conditional-permanent-residents-to-24-months-with-pending-form "we will issue new receipt notices to eligible conditional permanent residents who properly filed their Form I-751 or Form I-829 before Sept. 4 and whose cases are still pending. Those receipt notices will also serve as evidence of continued status for 24 months past the expiration date on their Green Card."

Yes 100%. Your extension letter + expired green card serves as authorization to work.

5 months ago, then you should have received 18 months extension. Nevertheless, you can continue working with expired green + extension letter.

Also, USCIS will issue new receipts for 24 months extension.

After the GC expired.

Then the extension letter together with the expired GC is a List C document: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-resources/handbook-for-employers-m-274/60-evidence-of-status-for-certain-categories/61-lawful-permanent-residents-lpr

List C document: An expired PRC with a Form I-797, Notice of Action, receipt notice of Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions, that indicates USCIS has extended the card’s validity.
