Do we think processing times may speed up?

Hi - received a NOA 1 in early August and VJ emails me periodically about the estimated approval date for the I-129F in late March.  Are the VJ dates fairly accurate historically?  That date keeps changing slightly, so I was curious if we think there's a chance in the fall USCIS speeds up?  How else will they deal with the huge backlog.  Not sure if anyone is close to the amount of employees they have in office right now, etc.

Bonus question - my beneficiary lived in the US to study for a master's degree.  Does she need a police report from the US, or does the embassy do that themselves?  If so, which type of police report - state or federal?

thanks

Note: Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates.

Timelines speed up and slow down for the various constituent elements, I am sure that will continue to happen, Obviously there is a big back log currently but I have seen some people fortunate to go through elements quicker than seemed the norm.

We were very recently approved with our NOA2 - we filed in December and were approved August 11. Our approval estimate was August 30th, so it was a touch earlier. However going off the other applicants from December, we were one of the earlier approvals. What determines that part, I don't know. But for the most part, the VJ approval estimate is pretty spot on :)

we last saw each other: March 2020
I-129F sent: 12/24/2020

USCIS received: 12/29/2020

NOA1 notice date: 2/27/2021

NOA1 receipt date (backdated): 12/28/2020

NOA2: 08/11/2021

NOA2 paper copy: 08/18/2021

NVC received: 08/25/2021

NVC number issued: 09/01/2021

Thanks all.  Based on my beneficiary's consulate (Madrid), it's very depressing looking at the all-in time (Madrid quoting ~270 days to get an appointment) for this.  Wish there was something to do but it's out of our hands!  Appreciate everyone's expertise.

270 days from NOA1 to interview? That’s fast.

Nah, the madrid consulate has 270 days to get an appointment (I think that runs from getting the app from NVC, but don't quote me there).  So ~8 months for NOA2, then what - 45 days - to go through NVC, then ~270 days for the interview?  That's how I'm thinking about it, at least.  1.5 years all in, sucks.

That’s brutal. Hopefully the situation will improve. Much luck and patience to you🙏
