When does EAD come in?

I have seen some cases take 6 to 8 months to receive an EAD.  Please fill in your timeline.

Senior Master Sergeant, US Air Force- Retired (after 20+ years)- Missile Systems Maintenance & Titan 2 ICBM Launch Crew Duty (200+ Alert tours)

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I have seen people waiting for a year recently, even if that's probably rare. Count on 9 months from filing, be happy with less.

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

EAD: 01-18-2017 - 05-30-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021

Having done Biometrics so quickly is a big plus.

Yes, I am. Biometrics done Sept 17th (July 16th filer). I requested for expedite on Sept 3rd as I have a job offer that is expiring soon and USCIS gave me a referral ID when I called. I have not heard from USCIS since then so I contacted my Senator’s office who inquired on my behalf yesterday about my Request to Expedite. This was a recommendation from two VJ members who were successful in getting their requests expedited by contacting a member of congress (have a look at those thread….start by clicking at my profile). I am keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 that the senator’s intervention will yield good results similar to other VJ family members.

 

Note: you can only expedite if you can prove severe financial loss and if you actually have a job offer. Otherwise, the wait is 9 months last time I checked (March 2022  for a July filer).
