How do I get started? Want to bring my fiance to the USA

Hello there, I was sworn in as a US citizen a couple of days ago.  My girlfriend is a Canadian and lives in Canada. I would like to sponsor my girlfriend into the United States.  We have been engaged for a few months now and been together for over five years.

 

Where do I get started?  Is it possible for her to continue living in Canada while we go through the process?  She has a good job in Canada and doesn't want to move to the United States until she is legal to work here.  Is this possible?  Thanks.

Based on your post, a spousal visa would be appropriate as it will allow her to work as soon as she enters the US as a legal resident.

 

Step 1:  Get married in Canada, the US, or another country.

Step 2: Start the CR-1 process by following this guide below.

Definitely get married and file for the CR-1 visa like Crazy Cat has already adviced you.

Come take a look at this thread. Please make sure you fill out your timeline and check the FAQ’s out (see my signature). 

Getting married will be the easiest way. If you do consular processing, yes, she will have to stay in Canada and can continue working. Good thing, too, as it’s gonna take you guys at least 18 months after you file to get to the interview stage. The Montréal consulate is ridiculously backed up.
