What does the state of California’s DMV/DOL site say?

Congratulations to getting married!  Have you already applied for a Greencard (I-485 Adjustment of Status)?

You could also just go ahead and apply for an ID online and see if they accept your documents.

I thought. CA had one for illegals which they would categorize you as.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Yes, they also have the AB 60 "for individuals who are unable to provide proof of legal presence in the United States".  Not sure if they issue those as IDs too, or only as drivers licenses.

I'd always try to get the Real ID first, though.  OP should look at the checklist below and see if they can provide any of the documents listed there.

I could only get a CA ID once I had received my EAD

K-1: 12-22-2015 - 09-07-2016

AP: 12-20-2016 - 04-07-2017

EAD: 01-18-2017 - 05-30-2017

AOS: 12-20-2016 - 07-26-2017

ROC: 04-22-2019 - 04-22-2020
Naturalization: 05-01-2020 - 03-16-2021

U.S. passport: 03-30-2021 - 05-08-2021

Follow the normal steps

with your I 94 apply for SS # / this has to be done in 1st 90 days

Go thru AOS process getting your EAD (C9 to work)  AP and 2 year green card

K1 is no longer valid/  expires upon entry into US

Read the guides and pay the fees and apply for all at the same time

U are now in limbo to work in the USA until your EAD is approved  that's why we all recommend the CR1 visa
