If she is flying alone she just needs to speak clearly - through her mask.  Have her take a sheet with your contact info / etc.  If she is coming with someone they both can go thru the visitor line.

She will be flying alone. I will be outside security waiting for her to board our flight to Denver.

Even us citizens cannot use the kiosk. These kiosks are reserved for global pass holders.

I used an APC kiosk at LAX last July.

Will she enter the US very soon? Because I recall from the other thread that she turns 18 in October (i.e. for citizenship through INA 320 she would have to enter before her b-day).

Yes. Her IV has been ISSUED and I they made her sign a I-184W during her interview. As soon as she receives her packet (7-10 days) she will immediately travel. We expect around 9/20ish.

And they did not require an I-184 from me.

Yup, because in her case I-864W (Request for Exemption for Intending Immigrant's Affidavit of Support) is used instead of I-864.

Makes sense since she is 14 or olderhttps://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-1-part-b-chapter-2

Yes. Under Part 2, they selected 1b I believe.

I would like to add this. USCIS, NVC and USEM have been amazing. They really did everything they could, even in the midst of a global pandemic, to finish her IV in less than 9 months. Kudos to them.

Can my 17 year old daughter use the Automated Passport Control kiosks at LAX on her first time entering the US ever with an I-551 stamp (only, no green card) in her passport?

I am a little late to this discussion but I don't quite understand how an I-551 stamp factors into this. From the posts it seems your daughter will arrive at LAX with an IR-2 visa in her passport and she will receive an I-551 stamp from the CBP officer upon entry into the US and thus become an LPR from that moment, until she has taken the oath to become a USC.

Perhaps I am just not familiar enough with IR-2 but why would she be "first time entering the US ever with an I-551 stamp"?

Ok. I incorrectly assumed the i-551 stamp is what they affixed to her passport at the embassy. See attached image.

The "upon endorsement" is referring to the CBP blue "ADMITTED" stamp https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/temporary-i-551-stamps-and-mrivs

Ok, I understand now. It only serves as a temporary i-551 (green card) once it is endorsed by CBP. Got it.

Thank you. I'll let her know she should fill out a customs declaration form, just in case.

She can download it and fill it out ahead of time, with your help, then copy to the actual form on the plane.  Is she travelling alone?

https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/documents/CBP Form 6059B English (Sample Watermark).pdf

Side note, my family and I (3 USC, 2 Filipinos on tourist visas) went through LAX three years ago and CBP was very helpful!  I was looking lost around the kiosks, wondering how I would do a family of 5, and a Filipino CBP agent spotted us and took us over to a desk for processing.  They had "helper" agents around the kiosks.  Good experience!  I hope your step-daughter has a good experience too.  She can look for a Filipino agent if she needs help.  I think there are a few.  The others should be fine too.

My step-daughter will be immigrating next June / July, with her mom.  We will travel as a family again, so this time it will be 3 USC and 2 Filipinos with IR1 / IR2.  I'm sure we will need assistance!  She will also be travelling close to her 18th birthday but in her case it does not really matter.

Keep us posted on your step-daughter's travel!
