Please I have a serious question to ask. I didn’t file to get my ssn when I arrived on my k1 visa, now I got my dad/ap combo card today. My question is when will I get the ssn because I thought it’s supposed to come with the ead, if not do I have to go ssn office myself? Please treat as urgent

I’d you didn’t ask for it on any of your forms (485/765), you have to go file for it at the SS office. It is pretty easy but may take a few weeks to arrive.

Responded to the RFE, now it's in the hands of USPS and USCIS.

Is there a typical timeline from them receiving the I-693 to a decision? I'm assuming that the interview has been waived at this point, especially since it's at a field office 500 miles away.

From viewing a few that have had this I’m guessing it shouldn’t be too long. Could be a few days or a few weeks. Here’s hoping it is the former for you! I read somewhere here earlier that it is always better to get a RFE for the I-693 as that’s an indication that the interview has been waived rather than a deficiency letter. As the deficiency letter denotes an interview.

All the best to you!

Ps your username always reminds me of one of my fave chocolate bars from home😄

My parent got an update. His I-693 that he filed along with his I-130 and I-485 is lost. So he received a RFE for I-693. We have to send it to local FO. Interestingly my in-laws applied in May 2022 and both got their green cards in hand yesterday.

Yes I requested for it on my ead form

Did you finally receive your SSN? I have a similar situation where I had requested it with my EAD application but it has been almost a month now since I received my EAD card in mail and no signs of SSN card. There were holidays in between so I had not been too worried but now it feels like no one is processing it. Did you have to call or go to the office for it and how did that go? Do you need to take any documents with you or will the EAD card and an ID be enough?

Call your nearby SS office. Tell them that you asked for your SSN in your EAD form but haven’t received it. They will check if there is something on the system. If not, you will have to go there. They should give you an appointment. Bring your EAD and another ID. that’s about it

Guys I finally received my approval!! I am so excited! This has been such a long journey. I am hoping everyone else gets some movement soon too!! Thank you guys for all your help and support :)

Congratulations! That's exciting news.

It's been a month and a half since I did my interview but they haven't made a decision yet. The IO did say that she sees that our relationship is genuine but they still have to review everything. I'm hoping that they approve it after our 2nd year anniversary which is coming up soon.
