Hi guys,

I have my I-485 being actively reviewed by USCIS, only yesterday I got a mail (without any status change online) that they need more info (RFE).

They are missing my birth certificate (which I already asked my mum to obtain and translate).

I am on pending AoS with EAD produced but no AP.

I am kinda freaking out. We have our family wedding back home and I was sure I can make it with AP or GC till September. Do you have any idea how RFE at this stage will delay the process?

Also is there a difference in speed while updating additional documents online vs by USPS?

Thank you for all info in advance !!

I got an RFE for birth certificate at the end of October and responded immediately, online. There was then no movement until they looked at it in the middle of March (so like 4.5 months later), when they immediately approved for interview.

So the good news is that you’re probably ready for interview other than this, but unfortunately it can take a while for them to take action after your reply. I got the feeling that they were quite slow for me, so hopefully you will be quicker!

Some people on other VJ areas have said that it’s not possible to get EAD/AP if the AoS has something missing, but your application obviously proves this isn’t true as you already have EAD - so hopefully your AP application is still moving along :)

Thank you for your reply ! Gives me hope that someone was 'in my shoes'.

I didn't know that I 'shouldn't get EAD with something missing, I also was sure RFE is coming before all biometrics and stuff (I had RFE for 765 but it was yellow)...

It gives me some hope that they are working on my case but you know how it is... anxiety and stress coming through :(

I can't help to think that AP is stuck in MSC and there is no online account for that.

I know it is really frustrating isn’t it.

Only other suggestion I can really think of is to keep a good eye on the processing times of the USCIS website. I know they have recently made noises like they are trying to process all kinds of cases faster. Maybe, if APs generally start moving faster, the priority date for case enquiry will move forwards and you could submit an enquiry. It’s questionable whether APs will speed up and the enquiry dates will move forward, but if they do that would be a good avenue to try and bump your case along.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you again for your kind words ! :)

Since they stop producing combo cards to put more effort on EAD, I have a feeling all 131 petitions are lying somewhere in basement covered by dust and spiderweb lol.

But yes, I need to think positive !

Have a good day

They did not stop. I know some peoole that goy combos this month. They look at the xurrent status you have and the reason you put I heard. If they judge it is not a priority, they won't do the combo

Btw, how did you guys who have received cards (either EAD or GC) find the tracking numbers? Was it through EMMA? I think @boy2aman might be able to help me with this. If not, that's okay

Sorry for just being able to respond to your message. I've been on a new shift at work and it has thrown me off.

Hi everyone! My EAD arrived today and I have some questions for those who already received it. My EAD didn't come with a SSN card and I read that some of you had the same problem, so I would like to know how much time it took for you to receive the SSN? And as you can see in the image, the envelope of my card says that my card is a combo card actually (it says "serves as AP") Can I go out of the country now or do I have to wait for my GC/possible AP?

If you selected the box in the I-765 for the SSN, you should get around 10 business days. If you don’t get it, call your nearby SS office and ask if they have your info. If not, you will have to do an appointment and do the process manually.

For your reference, my brother got his EAD (through TPS) and 3 days later his SS

Regarding your Combo Card.. if your EAD says in the front “serves as I-512 advance parole”.. yes, you can travel . You won’t get a AP card. Next step is the GCB90C8A25-3220-48F0-979D-61B7E0C91E0F.thumb.jpeg.952fa0b22cbe556e2f815036f1c9fc11.jpeg

Hi Guys we just got done with our interview a little while ago. Seemed to go pretty well. The interviewing officer was friendly, and even though his questions were quite direct, he was not intimidating or off putting.

Validated some documents first - driving licenses, passports, birth certificates and marriage certificate. Then moved onto some questions about us and our relationship - how we met, when the relationship started, when we got married, what parents think, all about our families. He kind of would ask one of us a question and then after a certain point have the other of us finish the story off. After that, he went through some national security questions and also took some evidence we brought (lease, car title, health insurance and bank/cc statements).

No approval on the spot but he confirmed that no changes had been made and then took us through the next stage, ie removal of conditions, so hopefully that is a good sign. We were probably in the interview 25 or so minutes.

Update! Woke up to an email from USCIS saying action had been taken on my case. Checked myUSCIS portal but no changes. Several hours later, I got pinged by my Case Tracker app that the I-485 has been approved today! Yahooo!
