hi all. I just spoke to an agent regarding an expedite request and she said that my I-131 is due to be assigned to an agent at the NBC. Does anyone know on how long that stage normally takes? She said she could not give an estimate due to covid.

TIA

I'm also interested in this as I'm getting ready to request an expedite. If you're at this stage, does it mean that there's no point in expediting?

I am petitioning for my mom. The RFIE was for my birth certificate under I130. I had only submitted the English translation initially.

Hi @kline19. Nice to hear an update from you after a long time. Good to hear that your case is actively reviewed and its a simple RFE. Good luck and keep us posted.

We are lucky that we received a simple and easy to arrange RFIE.

Happy for you.

1. I was wondering if they can issue RFIE again?

What is the probability? i.e. 50%, 20% etc.

2. Roughly, how long does it take from RFIE to the Interview stage?

1: I think it is certainly possible for them to issue another RFE. My guess is that the officer that reviewed the I130 is done with issuing RFEs since he/she would have included any and all other deficiencies that needed "evidence" from me. However, I am not sure if the same person is also looking at the rest of the forms connected with the I485 application. My guess is that there is a different person looking at I485 related material because the RFE for I130 transpired while we were waiting for the second Biometrics appointment (which is related to I765 and I485). So if this was a serial process these two things would not have occurred at the same time.

2: Ten years back, I remember RFE's would yield a decision for certain applications within three weeks of submission. I am not sure what the situation looks like these days.

gamma50g: thanks.

1. My RFIE was for the form I485, they asked for my own Birth Certificate

2. What do you mean by second biometrics? Do they do seperate biometrics for I130 and I485?

I'm still waiting for my lawyer's response to my RFIE 😐

I know it is a personal preference.
You do not need a lawyer in petition submission and RFIE stages.
I would only use lawyers after the decision, and only if any negative outcome. I believe the application process is made so easy enough. So many instruction documents. Internet forms like this one also help so much in finding out what documents you need, what to do, and what not to do. They made the process so easy i.e. online access, uploading documents, etc.
Save money on lawyers, less dependence, save time.

I hope your lawyer responds soon. Best regards

I had to hire a lawyer because my parent's case is a little complex. I agree that the application is very simple and straightforward to self-apply.
