hi everybody,

I was informed a week ago that my AOS interview previously scheduled for july/09 2007 in the Dallas Local Office was cancelled due to a huge amount of overloaded work they have to face because of the upcoming fee raising of july/30th.They did not re-schedule my interview. Does it sound normal and Is there anybody in the same case than me ?

Thanks for your answer...

Cxx

Go to the interview anyway. It seems some people have been received rejection notices for not appearing at their interview (even though it was apparently cancelled). I've read about some members going, being interviewed and approved and others going and being sent back home because their interview really was cancelled.

Incredible! Wonder what that "huge workload" could be? One would think the processing time would be shorter with all that extra moolah rolling in. What could be so difficult with having the fees raised?

Sorry to hear about your cancellation happycaro. How did you know that is the actual reason of your cancellation? Did you receive a letter on it? Did USCIS give you that specific reason? Based on other applicants' experiences, you could still go and try your luck. All the best.

Well a lot of people are trying to beat the deadline, so I would expect that they are getting an highly unusual amount of applications to review at the same time.

Thanks for all of you replying to my note... I am going through the AOS process with a lawyer so all information from the USCIS is managed by her.

All I know is that the cancellation was given by her and for the reason of the overload work at the moment..... the problem is I even do not know the time of the appointment so that I would even go .... so it is normally scheduled for tomorrow... schould I call at the very first of their business hours ?

You should call your lawyer & ask her what time it was supposed to be. You are paying her for her services & should use her over VJ.

If I decide to go and constitute the package by myself (right now my lawyer did the package which she did not send me), is it the list of paperwork i have to get in the AOS package ?

Assembling the I-485 Package: Checklist

Forms and Documents (follow these assembly instructions. All supporting documents must be in English or be translated as noted here.): 1. Payment(s) as required by USCIS. Be sure to include the payment for both the I-485 and the biometrics fee*. Use a money order so you can track the payment. If a personal check is allowed, use that instead.

>> The fee for I-485 applications filed on or after July 30th 2007 inlcudes the cost of the I-131 and I-765 (no need to pay for them if filed with or while your I-485 application is pending adjudication -- as long as you paid the "new" rate for the I-485 effective July 30th 2007).

2. Cover Letter. Should include a description of what your are petitioning for (I-485), a table of contents (list everything in the packet). If you need additional room to explain your case, attach a separate sheet (list the attachment on the cover sheet). Make sure to sign and date the cover sheet.

3. Form I-485: Petition for Alien Relative

4. Copy of the non US Citizen Spouses Passport (biographical page as well as entry stamps).

4a. Copy of the non US Citizen Spouses K-1 or K-3 Visa from Passport

6. Copy of the non US Citizen Spouses valid I-94 (front and back copies)

7. A copy of the intending immigrant's birth certificate along with English translation. (If in any language other than English)

8. A certified copy of your marriage certificate. (If filing for your spouse)

9. A copy of the petitioner's and/or intending immigrant's divorce documents. (If filing for a spouse, and one or both of you have been divorced before)

10. A copy of a prior spouse's death certificate. (If filing for a spouse, and one or both have you were married before, and the prior spouse died)

11. Two passport-type photos (see specification) of the Non US Citizen Spouse. Write the full name on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of <Insert Name>". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a.

12. G-325A (all four pages) filled out, signed and dated

13. I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status. (If you already have this from your overseas Visa Interview submit a copy that medical check form; No fee is required in this case. If you are a K-1 fiancé(e) or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiancé(e) visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement (I-693A), not the entire medical report. You may include the vaccination supplement with your adjustment of status application.)

14. I-864, Affidavit of Support (see poverty limits here)

What exactly is it you are asking? What you copied and pasted here is what should have already been submitted as your AOS application.
