california processing times

I just checked the USCIS site and they say they are processing apps from December of 2006! Thats freaking 7 months ago!!

Maybe I'm interpreting this the wrong way, but does this mean its going to take 7 months just get my I-129 approved the USCIS???

When I applied for my husband (in Sep 2006) it said that the processing times were @ 6 months.

It tooks us a bit over 2 months to be approved.

Don't pay too much attention to the USCIS website - VJ is a much better resource for how long you should expect to wait.

Anyone else will tell you the same thing.

Usually it is much faster. In case it is not, the time listed there is what you can use to escalate the processing of your case. For example, if the date is 7 months back, and you have waited 30 days after their listed time, when you call the service center, they should give you a better response because you have waited more then the listed amount of time.

They allow themselves a LOT of leadway, probably so they are not bombarded with phone calls if our time was getting close. If you go to the Immigration timelines and/or Processing Times here on VJ, you can get a much better feel for the time to expect. It will give you the average of everyone on here that has their timeline filled out.

I am constantly checking peoples timelines...especially the Aussies...to give me ideas on what to expect.

3 - 4 months is probably the average, but each case is dealt with individually. It could be that the time is shorter or longer.

Don't let those dates freak you out. If it makes you feel better, I sent ours on April2, 2007 (CSC). Got approved on june the 27th.

Don't worry!!! I just got mine in under 3 months. USCIS web site is not accurate.

Please fill in a timeline. When you do this, it will give you an estimated date of adjudication based on the data other VJ members have entered in their timelines. This will be another tool you can use to get an idea of when your case might be processed. VJ's averages are more accurate than USCIS processing times. Also, the data helps other members.

From what I understand the December petitions on the USCIS site are the oldest cases they are still working on. This could be because of RFE's or other factors. When you start seeing people with similiar NOA1's (at your service center) getting approved you can do the RFE trick to talk to someone at your service center. You call the regular USCIS number, you key the prompt that says " you recieved something in the mail asking for further eveidence" , then it will ask you for your reciept number, key it in, this will direct you to your service center. Then when you talk to someone you can ask if you've been approved. Don't bother calling the USCIS peeps, they know nothing. If it's been 80 -100 days and you start getting touches theres a good chance you were approved or RFE'd. I was touched and called about an RFE I never got and any real nice lady said I had no RFE and was approved 3 days earlier. The USCIS website updated my approval only after I called. Good luck!!
