Does this status "Case Is Being Actively Reviewed By USCIS" actually mean anything?

"Although an applicant may file early according to the 90 day early filing provision, the applicant is not eligible for naturalization until he or she has reached the required five-year period of continuous residence as a lawful permanent resident (LPR)."

Was reading this today, so it looks like i shouldn't expect to hear anything until at least after my actual 5 year GC anniversary...

Hi everyone,

My lawyer sent with the expedite mail to the USCIS my N-400 application on September 14th.  Do anyone knows how long will it take to receive the notice of receipt?   And about the Biometrics if I have to go in person or they will reuse the one I had it done for my GC in 2018.  I applied under the 3yrs marriage based .... Anyone out here applied from NY? If yes can you please tell me your time frame of course if you didn't applied online.

Thank you

This is correct. You can apply early, they can take your biometrics (or reuse them), and they can work on processing your case but they will not interview you until after you have reached your 5 year mark.

It will typically take a week or so for you or your lawyer to receive your receipt notice.

As for biometrics, they waived my wife's biometrics and she last had biometrics done in August 2017 as part of AOS (they were waived for ROC as well). Not sure how they decide who needs biometrics and who does not.

Hi everyone,

I moved to LA in Sept 7, 2021 and before that I was living in Irvine, CA. I filed my N400 online in Sept 22, 2021 and received the Biometric reused notice an hour after the filling. My current status is "Case is being actively reviewed by USCIS"

Which one would be my field office? LA or Santa Ana?

Because I just moved to LA (two weeks before filling), will my application go to Los Angeles Center?  or Santa Ana center for my Irvine.

It seems LA is much faster than Santa Ana.

Thanks

This is misleading. They can actually interview you and approve your case anytime after you submit the application, assuming you meet all the criteria and have been / is still married to the US Citizen. Due to timing and delays, your application will most likely not be approved within the 90 days window. USCIS  does not  have to wait until your 5th year Greencard anniversary to interview/approve your case.

straight out of DHS https://www.dhs.gov/publication/uscis-processing-concurrently-pending-forms-n-400-and-forms-i-751

All the rights and privileges that apply to lawful permanent residents, however, apply to conditional residents, including the right to apply for naturalization. Also, pursuant to Section 319(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, the spouse of a citizen may naturalize after residing in the United States for 3 years after becoming a lawful permanent resident, rather than 5 years as generally required. Lawful permanent residents who are eligible to naturalize under this provision of law may file their N-400 applications up to 90 calendar days before they complete their 3-year permanent residence requirement. All the other requirements for naturalization must be met on the day of filing the application. Due to the lengthening of processing times for I-751 petitions, both a request to remove the conditional status and an application for naturalization may be pending at the same time, which creates operational and adjudication issues at USCIS”

Hello everyone! New filer here for N400.. Just filed yesterday (September 22) via online filing.. Received receipt notice immediately and after few minutes says “case is being actively reviewed” but without biometrics..

I filed my N400 yesterday morning too, based on the 5-year rule. I received my Bio metric reuse notice an hour after filing. Keep us updated on your case.
