Hello everyone. I am a bit confused and need clarification, I filed last year to remove conditions on my Cr1 visa. After filing I got form I-797 giving me an 18 months extension while I wait for my conditions to be removed. October this year completes 18 months and I received another for I-797 today in the mail still stating that I have 18 months extension from the expiration date on my greencard. Is the second I-797 an extension for the first one I got or what? I’m confused. Has anyone experienced this before? Please I need clarification. Thanks everyone.

They're doing that to help mitigate processing delays.

Check the 2nd I-797, it should be for 24 months from the expiration of the conditional green card giving you 6 more months of proof. USCIS is extending the extension letter to 24 months.

Read the new letter carefully. You need it to extend your green card, if in fact it is another 18month extension then it was sent in error.

I believe all pending i751 will be sent a new extension letter extending it by 6 months to 24 months.
