Emergency Interview Approved, Chances of Having Visa Approved?

Hey everyone,

If you have an emergency interview approved by the embassy, in general what are the chances that the visa is approved? Yes, I understand that it depends on many factors. However, I am more interested in knowing whether or not, for the most part, the consular officer has already made their decision prior to the interview.

In other words, what % of visas are approved that have been granted an emergency appointment? Is actually getting the emergency appointment the difficult part?

Thanks for any help.

My understanding- you have to prove the case for the emergency in the interview, so it’s only there being an “on the face of it” emergency that you got you the appointment. If the facts/documents back up that reason you should be ok.

Department of State probably tracks that data, but they do not make it public.

Emergency appointment simply means you got to the front of the line due to demonstrating that you have an urgent reason to travel now.  It doesn't waive any of the parameters of eligibility for a visa.  Burden of proof is always on you to show you qualify, whether at an emergency or standard appointment.
