This whole "conditional" green card stuff is really starting to make me angry.  We just had to get an appointment for an I-551 stamp in my wife's passport......we have a rock solid case, yet we have been waiting since March of 2019.  This is beyond ridiculous.   My wife has now been in the US since June of 2017.

My extension letter expires in Nov.

What steps did you follow to get the i-551 stamp in passport?

How long is the stamp valid for?

Also can we travel internationally with the stamp?

I called the USCIS number. 800-375-5283

I said "ADIT Stamp".  It connected me to an agent.  I explained the situation as emergency since my wife needs to travel.  The agent then said I would receive a call withing a few hours.  Then, a couple hours later and agent called me to set up the appointment for the next morning.   The next morning, we drove to the service center, and they stamped my wife's passport.  Her stamp is valid for 6 months.  Yes, you can travel with the stamp.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you! I just called and was told to wait 30 days for callback.

Did you have to bring any documents with you at the service center?

Did you indicate it is an emergency appointment?  We had to take passport and the appointment confirmation letter.   My wife had her stamp within 24 hours of my first call to USCIS.

Yes, you can work.  Your status as a legal resident does not expire when the extension letter does.  However, if you need current evidence of status (for a new employer or travel), just make an appointment with USCIS for an ADIT stamp.

I am not sure if you can do anything to get the 24 months. But if your 18 months is about to expire, you can schedule your appointment to get a pass from uscis. This pass is usually a stamp  on your passport from what I heard. 24 months will be mailed we just don't know when as of now.

USCIS will only issue a i551 (ADID) stamp within 30 days of the expiration of your extension letter. Call the 800 number for USCIS and request an info pass appointment then.

It appears USCIS is mailing new 24 months extension letters to some 751 applicants still pending but it is not clear how they are prioritizing those letters, to my knowledge of there is no way to request an updated one.

Remember your status does not change when your extension letter expires only proof of your LPR status expires, if you have no need for LPR proof, like you are not going on international travel, not currently renewing a driver's license, or not starting a NEW job you don't need a stamp or new extension letter anyway. USCIS and ICE are aware of your continued LPR status.
